Capcom has just revealed in Japanese magazine Famitsu that they are releasing a brand new pirate-themed game for the Wii tentatively titled Treasure Island Z.
Directed by Eiichirou Sasaki (of Resident Evil: Outbreak, er, fame?), the game puts you in the role of a pirate in training as you use your Wiimote to search for treasure and solve puzzles. I wish real pirates had used Wiimotes to search for treasures and solve puzzles. That would have been awesome.
The graphics, although obviously “cartoony,” look pretty stylish and I am really digging the character design. Not much else is known about the title, but judging from the screens, it kind of looks to be a hybrid platformer/first person adventure.
Capcom knows how to make adventure games, so hopefully this will be one to watch.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I'm not sure if that green thing in the middle of the second picture is a grabber or a cheap looking key blade. Looks like fun though, hopefully it stays that way.
Wii game? Check.
Fun? ???
Looks like it could be fun. Seriously though. Monkey Island Wii would be fun. That or Grim Fandango.
I hope they don't just make this game a flat-out copy... Other than that, Monkey Island ftw.
I remember The Dig. Robert Patrick. Shiny Box. Pretty cool.
God how I hated that saying. When I got stuck I tried everything. Most times the combinations that actually worked didn't make any sense anyway.
I'd love a new Leisure Suit Larry point'n click adventure. Put it on the Wii damnit!
@ DJ Duffy. No you weren't the only one. I immediately thought Windwaker Pirates.
Yea...they'd better make Monkey Island 5, now that this post has all our hopes up
Tell us about Loom.

Did it take you forever to get off the original island in loom like me? It took me forever to learn how that game wanted you to think.
But in the end it was awesome...point-n-click games still are my favorite genre.
LOOM!!! I played the crap out of that game back in school. I loved how everything was based off of musical notes since I was a band geek.
i just remembered the guy in monkey island that wanted you to ask him about loom...*smacks forehead*
I grow up playing Nes > SNES > N64 then gamecube
But I do rerember my rom of it I was still on monkey island
I stoped playing because of school
I miss it I guess I wil play this weekend

Has that always been your avatar? I never noticed before when you blogged.
it was originally the drawings of Gov. Marley from the original Monkey Isand box art, but then I changed it to this view of her. My avatar's a hottie, right?
