Here's the Shyamalan twist: she's a vegetarian."
This. Fucking this alone is enough for me. Bring this game to the states Nintendo!
Granted, eating the raw flesh of monsters changes things a bit, but I think that part would promote the same unease from anyone, vegetarian or not.
I don't like to have animals die for me... Where does that thinking come from? Naturalism could call out the importances of animal death... But at the same time, most naturalism now days is Evolutionary base... Evolution pretty much stating that the only reason why we can comprehend animal's pain is because we ate animal IN THE FIRST PLACE and hence our brains grew to the massive size they are today.
So it goes... We are morons who have no empathy --> we eat animal --> we are smart and have empathy --> we don't eat animal
I guess the next step is that we get dumb again and the cycle begins all over again. With that said, no I am no a naturalist.
@lettersnumbers - for me, I grew up vegetarian just from not liking the taste of it general, nowadays I have no qualms about it, I just generally don't eat meat if I have the choice not to eat an animal, dumb or not.

That said, I guess this presents a fairly unique dilemma for gamers. I know moral choices are all the rage in games now, but this one stands out as a very personal moral decision whereas most of the choices you see in Mass Effect and the like are more of what society as a whole would consider moral. Interesting stuff. (As a vegan I approve of the discussion that a design choice like this creates.)
Now vegans.....good lord, if I could form a hammer out of their own smugness, I'd beat them to death with it.
No. *feels superior*
You can't make me eat your filthy steak! I won't eat it. Not eating meat isn't bad for you. I've been a vegetarian since I was 8 and I feel fine.
(Also, I would totally scarf down a steak If it would save my life or give me superpowers.)
"wish this was being developed for ps3"
It's being published by Nintendo, so the chances that this game would have ever been made on another console are slim to none. In any case, look at all the cool shizz coming to PS3! Don't deny Wii-owners a little bit of goodness.
I'm thinking this game will be Nintendo's starter to attract the "hardcore" gamer crowd for the Wii 2.
Looks very good, nether the less.
....but feel free to prove me wrong, NOA. Please?
why do you have to eat that O_O
Anyway the game itself doesn't look that interesting to me, but the veggie thing is indeed an intersting dilemma.
Stuck up vegetarians need to chill the hell out. Having said that, in my life I've only met about three or four of them, while I've met thousands of belligerent, condescending meat eaters. Not quite sure where the stigma comes from.
Granted, given that this is a fictional video game chances are they'll play up the whole vegetarian angle, but it still doesn't necessarily she's one of those political vegetarian's .
@Mattroid @ Lettersnumbers
being Vegetarianin is a dietary choice so don't get to worked up about it, not everyone is smug just the loud ones are. For instance most intelligent vegetarians hate Peta because they never do anything worthwile, all they do is make vegetarians look bad.
I'm not an idiot and neither am I smug I will never force my diet or beliefs on other people, we live in a country of freedom of choice.
as for your comment about Humans getting smarter by eating meat well I think you've been misinformed by the propaganda ads by Sam Neill
here's an excerpt from an essay I wrote:
The USDA have misinformed the public to believe that humans are biologically programmed to eat meat. In reality, humans are herbivores. People do not have claws for catching and killing animals, they have hands for plucking fruits and planting seeds. Carnivores have underdeveloped incisors, mouths that move strictly up and down and long short molars for ripping meat. Humans have strong incisors, flat molars, and mouths that move slightly side to side for chewing and mashing seeds; similar to a cow ; which is a strict herbivore. Carnivores eat food by swallowing pieces and do not need to chew because they have acidic saliva. Humans, akin to other herbivores, do not have acidic acid and need to chew their food in order to ingest it. Carnivores have short intestines and need to eat other animals because they do not produce adequate cholesterol. Humans have long intestines and produce all the cholesterol they need and any excess cholesterol can lead to health risks. Though it is true that we need B12 to survive, but you can get that from dairy or vitamins.
Meat isn't going to kill you if you eat it every so often, but humans were not meant to eat it everyday 3 times a day. Various credible scientific studies have proven it repeatedly that eating meat greatly increases heart risk. If you want to put your heart at risk you can do as you please.
In the trailer they say nothing about her being a vegetarian.
