New Okami game coming to the DS photo

Earlier this month, Capcom trademarked the word Okamiden leaving many to believe that Capcom would finally be making a new Okami game. Well, turns out it was true!

Okamiden is featured in the latest issue of Famitsu and you can see a scan of the article from True-Gaming up above. The new game is coming out for the DS and will be out sometime in 2010.

I’m impressed that the Capcom was able to keep the stylized look of Okami on the DS. The DS is also perfect for the controls Okami presents. Just please, no more Issun, okay?

I am so happy. In fact, I am so happy for this game that I can no longer tolerate this world, and I fear I shall end my now anxiety ridden existence before my sweaty fingers are able to hold this game.

You must obviously be talking about having nothing for LATE 2010 with Scribblenauts, Sprit Tracks and Bower's Inside Story on the way. Man I love the DS.

Do you mean you expected the DS not to handle it, when we have plenty of awesome looking cel-shaded games on it?

I wasn't a big fan of Okami, hopefully this will be good though, I know a lot of people who loved the game.

Now that I've calmed down a bit I can articulate my HOLY SHIT THIS IS GOING TO ROCK I LOVE MY DS HAHA. Damn I spoke too soon. This is now pretty much at the top of my most anticipated list by default, at least until a little over a week from now when we get more info on whatever the hell that "Epic Mickey" thing is going to be.

But I digress, the fact that Okami is getting a sequel proves there will always be good in the world.

Lord The Night Knight: Okami is very stylized. If it can maintain exactly what the PS2 game did, then there's nothing like it on the DS

@Hamza

I got what you were trying to say as after all the DS is built more like a N64 than a PS2. Though it could work as the better looking games are either sprite based or 2D cartoons.

i apologize for double post/typo/abortion.

I played okami when i had a PS2, then got a Wii -> then Okami(wii ver.) I'm optimistic but from the screenshots, it looks real nice. The cel-shading attempt looks decent enough. I hope this iteration of okami does well :)

Of those only Scriblenauts interests me...but that's probably more than enough. I don't use the DS much with a Wii and PS3 around.

Still, i'd rather it be on the Wii/PS3 >_>

YES YES YES! While I would have loved to see the game on Wii (controls, if they DID IT RIGHT) or PS3 (graphics - just look how beautiful Valkyria Chronicles looks!), the DS also seems like a great choice. I just hope the experience isn't watered down at all! I can't WAIT!

It's great that they managed to keep Ammy as this awesome long-tailed polar bear and didn't turn her into something more "cool" like a wolf... oh wait...

Any news on the time-line? Is it a sequel or a prequel? And Hamza, they better keep Issun in or it's a no deal. I mean the way he came through in the end of the first one was great. Made cry every time. :D

Honestly I can't wait to hear more news. I'm buying a DS for this.

Though I'm a bit skeptical about Ammy being a cube...
I sincerely hope that Issun will be back and that the sound doesn't suck or they should do like Ni No Kuni the biggest cartridge size possible.
Day 1 buy for me though !!!!!
F*** YEAH !

Just gonna point out Clover studios is dead, so this might end up a bit of a pale imitation more than anything else. Cautiously optimistic though.

Didn't Platinum Studios take over Clover? So the name is gone but there are still people from Clover working at Capcom.

Platinum Games are an independent studio though, so unless Capcom outsources it to them, they won't be involved.

Lol, told you folks it would be on DS, didn't I? Good move.

This is nicer, as the interface works better ths way. I'll look forward to it.

Clover Studio are now known as Platinum Games, after leaving Capcom.

I'm sure this won't sell, much like the original.
I have no idea why Capcom wouldn't make this game for a real system. Okami would look sooo much better in beautiful HD graphics on the ps3/360. Okami made the Wii chug, much like No More Heroes.... I'm sure it won't be anything but blocky on the DS, afterall it's not a nintendo IP.
