Two of Nintendo Japan's product Web pages were just updated with new video, images, and details on the DSi, the new dual screen portable set to launch on the 1st of November in Japan.

First, Nintendo.co.jp was updated with a special DSi Flash breakout page that gives details (in Japanese) on the new features of this system. Visit the site and check out the rightmost link: you'll be able to see and control a side-by-side comparison of a DS Lite and a DSi.

Their other site, a DS-specific one called Touch-DS, has been updated with two videos, one of which is above. It details some of the new built-in toys, like the sound warper or the photo editor. The new Web browser looks pretty robust! The other video (below the jump) is a quick commercial to get the Japanese excited for the release in a little over a week.

What do you think about these new features? Are you more interested in a DSi now?

@eternalplayer YOU FAIL AT LIFE

You CAN play imported ds games, its still region free.

You CAN'T play DSi games that are geographically dependent meaning DSi games that use location based software. Do you really want these DSi games? If you do you're more of douchebag than I thought you were.

However you are right about the lack of GBA, however since I use R4 to play copied GBA and DS games, this doesn't bother me.

I'm completely positive we'll see R4 software on the DSi, meaning you'll get to play your GBA games on the SD cards, something i've been doing for the last 2 years.

To our benefit we no longer need adapters, since the DSi has built in SD card slot. This is probably one my fav features, aside from the larger screen.

BTW I've seen the DSi in person, and yes the screen is noticeably bigger.

Is it worth getting if you already have a DS lite, I don't think so.

@ byrc

I know this may not be the place to ask but how are you playing gba games on an R4 without a slot 2 flash device? Hence which would be impossible on the DSi since it has no slot 2.

The GBA port hasn't really been used much on my DS so I can live without it. I'd sacrifice a GBA port to have a nice interface and some of the extra features.

I only use my GBA slot for Pokeymeng, and the announcement that there isn't a GBA slot on the DSi is merely a telltale sign that there's going to be yet another Redux to get older generation pokeys ala Fire Red/Leaf Green. Nintendo wouldn't ever simply get rid of a powerhouse franchise like that. Of course we'll buy them up, we're addicted. It's like complaining that crack prices are through the roof, you're going to sit back and pay anyways.

I hope Nintendo won't sell s Virtual GBA games for download. They are Duchebags for having located software in a portable device. Why can't I buy a game while I'm travelling?

If the DSWare store sees awesome downloadable content, then do want. Otherwise, I will stick with my DS Lite until the DSi becomes the absolute standard.
