Home DS updates

New Ninjatown screens. We're still not sure what it's about

     DS

It's been awhile since we've seen anything new from this odd little title coming out for the DS. We just received some new screens and the box art but still don't know much about the game itself. The only thing I could find from some Matlocking is that:

  • It's an action-strategy game
  • There will be gameplay phases (building and combat)
  • You can level up Ninjas and create buildings
  • Fighting will have some puzzle elements
I'm having a hard time with accepting the whole concept of this game. I want to love it because it's a Ninja game, but Ninjas aren't supposed to be cute. They're supposed to be badasses!

I think it's about ninjas. In a town. Though that's just pure speculation.

What the hell that looks pretty sweet. I love that style of game. Reminds me of oldschool Zelda with the layout.

Those do look really cute. Now I sound gay. Better do something manly. Like lift weights and punch trees. And grow back hair. Wait, got that one covered.

Oddly enough, the graphics remind me of Earthbound.

There was a nice sized article about Ninja Town (developed by former EGM staffer) in EGM a few issues back. I can't recall which issue it is though :o

DR MCNINJA! YEAH!

That game looks kind of like advance wars + ninjas. Which CANNOT POSSIBLY be a bad thing.

The amusing thing about the name Ninjatown is that the term actually used to be in my regular vocabulary, back when I was younger, not to mention a complete idiot.

I'm excited to see how it turns out mainly because I liked Shawn's writing when he worked at EGM. But I'm a little worried about the game, too. It's easier to bash a bad game as a reviewer than it is to make a good one.
