New Ninja Gaiden 2 info is exciting, but lacks chunks of gore photo

We had a chance to check out a live demo of Ninja Gaiden 2 at Tokyo Game Show, but beyond Ryu being really pissed off, and the game being really gory, we didn't learn much we couldn't have guessed from screens. Today, Computer and Videogames is delivering some new tid bits on the upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive title, and we're trembling with anticipation.

The game will reportedly take place across a number of real-world environments, including Tokyo, Venice, and Times Square in New York City. Additionally, CVG expands on the promise of improved enemy AI, detailing their ability to perform cooperative attacks. Ryu has also learned a few new tricks -- the "Obliteration" technique will cause him to deliver a series of blows when Y is hit immediately after removing an enemy limb. Talk about adding insult to injury.

CVG ends their report by lamenting the lack of a multiplayer mode in Ninja Gaiden 2, which Electronic Gaming Monthly confirms in their latest issue. Who was expecting a multiplayer mode? Isn't the mass removal of limbs enough for you people these days?

Seems like multiplayer is meant to be that "drug" everyone wants. Kinda a shame really. So every game thats nextgen has to have MP, or it just "blows out of the water". But Ninja Gaiden.. um the game would make you beg for mercy, literally. Why would anyone need multiplayer.. you're f*in Hayabusa Ryu for crying out loud!?

Can anyone imagine how bad the camera would be if this game had a single screen two-player cooperative mode? It makes my head hurt thinking about it.

Multiplayer? the only people expecting that are retards on forums who are so jaded by xbox live that they see single player completely useless

oh and the gore... limbs, that ain't enough. Every time Ryu cuts off someones head, I say it should be required that he skull fucks them afterwards.

On a somewhat related note, anyone else think Itagaki looks like a burn victim?

Jesus, people are crying that Ninja Gaiden II doesn't have multiplayer? What next? Are they going to complain that Super Mario Galaxy doesn't allow you to hijack a bullet bill and mow down koopa troopers on the way to pick up a hooker toad to restore your hit points before you throw fireballs at them to get your coins back?

No doubt if Ninja Giaden II did implement a multiplayer feature, those same people would review the game, complaining that it felt tacked on and that it's development took resources from making the single player campaign better. Bastards are never happy.

Less limbs = more fun. Screw multiplayer, it will only make me feel bad about my already appalling Ninja skills.

Why does everyone need multiplayer these days? There are places where it just doiesn't belong and NG2 is one of them.

Multiplayer could work I guess. A vs mode would work.
If they used just the same fighting system as in game.
You'd have to block and use skill.
Ninja Gaiden was never a button masher, You needed to block and Roll and have technique.

MP? you've got to be kidding me. I'm just glad they've made the focus on making the experience just as good or better than the original, screw MP for once.

this is silly. the industry has become obsessed with these types of questions... last weeks GFW podcast on 1up touched on this subject too, talking about our misconception of what a great game is. "How many maps does it have" "how many weapons" etc etc. "This game only contains 4 ounces of gaming, blablabla".

How about one awesome map instead of five horrible? How about a goddamn incredible single player experience, instead of a half ass one with shitty multiplayer thrown in? God, we're starting to miss the point about this... i don't like it. But every comment here has been great and everyone seems to agree that this has to be toned down

I remember seeing people complaining that the original Ninja Gaiden didn't have a multiplayer either.

Ninja Gaiden Black lasted me 4 months and 220 hours of gameplay time according to to the ingame clock, not a single multiplayer on even of the most hyped shooters has lasted me that long, its usually a lot less since I don't enjoy multiplayer without friends and even then I end up hating the multiplayer because of its numerous flaws.

And I'm putting Gears and Halo 3 in this camp, neither has a decent multiplayer.

I'll take a good single player game any day of the week, BioShock kicked ass without the single player just fine, currently I'm playing Jericho and it fucking rocks, why? No multi, all the efforts went into single player.
