New Muramasa: The Demon Blade trailer earns my respect photo

Good god, this game looks incredible. I know I've said it before, but I have to say it again. The closer we come to seeing a US release, the more excited I find myself about it. It comes out in Japan on April 9th (Wii exclusive, by the way) and is slated for a 2009 release for North America, so it can't be too long for us, but I do have to admit I'm jealous Japan only has to wait another week or so.

Of course, if you want to know a little about what it's like to make the wait more bearable, you can check out out Jim's impressions from last year's Tokyo Game Show. I'm hopeful we may see a demo of this on the E3 show floor, and if so we'll be sure to bring you our thoughts on what the localized version looks like. In the meantime, hit the jump and go watch that delicious trailer!

I don't know why, but the art work of this reminds me of Ragnarok Online, and I am loving it.

Definitely going to have to keep this on my radar; hopefully more info gets released soon.

Reminds me of Odin Sphere which is a very good thing. A very good thing indeed.

Reason number one why I have to find a new roommate who happens to own a Wii.

That must be a bitch drawing 2d pixels. Polygons are so much easier.

I can't wait for this. It seems like as time goes on I prefer 2d games more and more.

Is this going to be along the lines of Odin Sphere story wise?

As in one big story populated by multiple playable characters?

I liked that :D

Man, I've been looking forward to this for so long! Did you see those HUGE bosses at the end? So excited :)

Love the ninja-run too -ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch

@Tino

If the trailer's what to go by it's to be limited to the two leads.

My question is that if Marvelous is the publisher this time around, if the localization will be good. Atlus did Odin Sphere, which was awesome, but NIS-America handled GrimGrimoire, which was still-great-but-less-so, which is kind of sad since NIS-A did so much to raise the bar back when they put out Disgaea.

Also, I hope it will be in dual-audio. Both of the previous Vanillaware games' US release had it, so I'm hoping Marvelous will continue the trend.

Also, there seems to be a lot of cooking/alchemy/eating, which is quite satisfying to me.

Looks sweet, I like how they made a level out of a Hiroshige print.

@unangbangkay: Atlus translated Disgaea, not NISA.

Geh, which only reinforces my belief that NISA STILL isn't as good when it comes to the 'biz of catering to weeaboo nerds like me ;_;

I'm hoping for a good localization. I know I'm in the minority when I say Japanese voice acting gets on my nerves after a while.

The visuals are absolutely STUNNING. The short clip of the Octopus fight looked lifted straight from the old Japanese prints made during the Edo Period. Man, I need to finish Odin Sphere.

Looks excellent. Throw in a bit of platforming as well and I'm totally sold.

Madwhat?

I cannot wait to play this game. The sprites look incredible and are even better in motion than in screens. And they look good in screens as well.

I need to stop watching these trailers, it hurts too much.

Everyone should buy this game, even if they don't have a Wii, just to support this kind of thing. That's reasonable, no?
