Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard looks like a videogame designed purely to make players say, "I see what you did there." In fact, try and spot what developer Vicious Cycle did there with the above video. I think you'll definitely see what was done. There.

We have more footage for you after the jump, all as deliciously stupid as the above. It seems that D3 Publisher is making a habit of picking up the most absurd and deliberately retarded games out there. I must confess, I feel a need to admire that in a publisher.

Matt Hazard may turn out to be a disaster and fall prey to all the trespasses it mocks other videogames for, but I hope it actually turns out well. Something this delightfully moronic deserves to be at least fun. Here's hoping.

I guess puzzle quest is kind of absurd, but retarded? I think Matt Hazard looks like a fun game with a good sense of humor. You don't often really get to see many games that parody other games, especially multiple genres of games. Even if this game is just the average cover-based "stop and pop" shooter, the theme of it makes it look like a lot of fun.

That looks fucking brilliant.

It's like Last Action Hero: The Game.

That boss fight was awesome. For more on Matt Hazard, check out preview of the game!

Will Arnett is Matt Hazard.

This will at least be a rent.

I was wondering how long it was going to take for Destructoid to put this up :D I'm sold and the game mechanics seem pretty solid ^^

Fuck yes. While it may not be worth a purchase, I'm definitely going to rent that. That looks amazing, kind of like A Bard's Tale but for more genres.

I'm officially more interested in this now than I was fifteen minute ago.

Even though I would be a lot of what you'd call a "Weeaboo", I loved every minute of that.

Looked nice but it definitely needs work. Mainly the AI and animations (specially melee). The ice arm looked pretty fun, and if nothing else, these videos have convinced me to follow the game closely.

Also, "Man, I'm such a stud"

Will Arnett in anything is a sale for me. But I do think this game looks like it'll be a good time. If it didn't have a sense of humor or an original idea in it, it would be the most generic game I have ever seen. But it doing that intentionally is fantastic.

I also love seeing sprites in a 3D world like that, it looks really cool.

This actually looks like it could be a lot of fun. I never did care for the Penultimate Illusion series anyway. I will most likely still wait for reviews, but so far, it doesn't look too bad.

I guess the gameplay can be seen as a critique of action games in general, and also a practice in "if it ain't broke, why fix it" mentality.

But they need to fix some of those death noises. Critique or not, that shit was annoying.

This game looks like it's going to be the biggest gamer fan service of all time. I wish the developers and this game the very best of luck.

2009 is the year of the parody game, perhaps?

I'm loving the satirical nature of the game, but I don't know about the gameplay... needs to be tighter for sure. But then again that could be part of the joke?

I like how they're trying to cram some humor and character in the gameplay, but I could see it wearing thin. Still, it's getting a bigger blip on my radar

It looks like the game needs some fine tuning but I'm excited about the concept. Plus it's Will Arnett, I'm obligated to anything he's done since he was Gob.

What's with the hate? This looks like a solid "b-movie" game that could potentially go on to be a cult favorite. The first video was certainly obvious, but I could relate to it, so I found some humor in it. Depending on reviews and pricepoint, I could see myself picking this up.

like I said earlier in my blog about this, it could be one of the best gamer's games we've seen in a while, or it could be a crappy yet funny game. I'll be hoping it turns out great, because I love parodies, and this one seems to hit that nail on the head.

There are only a handful of games that I would consider to be comedy gold, and if you don't count games with Tim Schafer in the credits it's significantly less. So I'm looking forward to this game, even if it's just a generic "hide behind stuff and shoot" game.

Yeah, this seems kind of like The Simpsons Game, where you'll end up playing it for the references and the humor, more so than the gameplay. That said, I enjoyed The Simpsons Game for what it was, and will probably have more fun with Eat Lead.

GOB for the fuckin' win!

how can anyone actually review this? Does the crappy camera reference a joke or is it just crappy? Seems like they're trying to invent the formula for printing $

Hmmm... It's a shame that the action and controls looks so clunky and awkward because otherwise I think this'll be a pretty hilarious game.
