Mario Tennis Open, otherwise known as Mario Tennis 3D, just released a new trailer showcasing a ton of the game's "extra" modes, in addition to the new Mii customization system. Old school fans will probably go gaga over "Super Mario Tennis" mode, which features old school levels from the original NES game, but the usual stable of Tennis mini-games are included as well.
I'm not all that excited for MT 3D (mostly due to the fact that I played like 500 hours worth of Mario Tennis [64]), but it's still shaping up to be an awesome addition the 3DS is year. While the Wii is on the way out, the 3DS is ramping up in a big way in 2012 -- when you think about it, in just a few months we're getting Heroes of Ruin, Theatrhythm, Pokemon Conquest (DS), and Kingdom Hearts 3D.
Yep, all those games are releasing during the "drought" period of the year.
Just imagine what is planned for confirmation at e3 for the autumn/holiday season.. 0.0
I played tons of Mario Tennis with my college buddies. The court we always chose was grass. Why? "Because we're on grass." Ah, hazy memories. That said, the appeal of this game was couch competition, I can't imagine getting many miles out of a single player 3DS experience.
Nothing that makes me jump up and say "WELL NOW THAT'S A BUY!", but I'm still likely getting it. Hopefully the gameplay hasn't been dumbed down at all.
This actually looks pretty good, I've never played a Mario Sports game so this might be the first. That being said I'm most likely not picking this up around the release date there's lots of other 3DS games I really want. I hope they announce a release date for Animal Crossing soon, I want that so bad.
Really wish that they had made this one in the RPG style of the GBC and GBA Mario tennis and golf games. I was and still am totally addicted to those. The actual tennis/golf alone aren't nearly as interesting to me as the whole experience.
Those special games do look interesting, but unless an RPG mode is suddenly revealed in the next month and a half, I'm probably gonna pass on this one.
