Rockstar was kind enough to send over their latest trailer for the upcoming PlayStation 2 and Wii game, Manhunt 2, effectively ruining any chance of me actually get any sleep tonight.
The trailer sets a brutal, yet very different tone from its predecessor. Psychopaths, a mental wards, and some sort of experiments ... oh boy. Already, it seems as if the sequel is set down the path of a much stronger narrative, one that I hope sucks me in a bit deeper than spray painting "Kill this f**k" on a brick wall.
To further develop the game's backstory, Rockstar have also set up a page that's home to a recorded patient session with Leo Kasper, one of the game's resident psychopaths. Creepy stuff, for sure, but there's no sale unless guys still call me a "s**tsack."
It's not really my cup of tea. It looks OK, and the premise is kinda cool... but... I dunno. Doesn't really seem like that much fun. However, I'll wait for some gameplay vids before passing more judgement.
I was mostly bored at the first in the series. The canned executions were fun the first time you saw them, and it was really a great visual style, with the security camera technique. The story sucked ass. Outside of the ultraviolence appeal and the minicutscenes from the in-world cameras, it was pretty flat. I remember blowing a few hours on it, and going right back to MGS2.
If Rockstar can get the magic formula for the controls, I'm absolutely looking forward to those repetitive cutscenes. Absolutely.
@theStripe - they said that for the wii the executions will not used canned animations. so if you're moving your controller to saw off some heads, onscreen will be sawin at the same pace. also read that testicle removal is a possibility. thast right, testicle removal.
