At this year's Tokyo Game Show, we brought back news of a new Wii game from Sega called Let's Tap. In this game, you tap on a cardboard box to control everything, whether it be little runners running a race, or bouncing balloons you have to catch. It doesn't really make sense until you see it in action, but from what we played, it was a lot of fun.

It's not all silly minigames, though. Well... it really is, but some are more complex than others. New videos from the Japanese Let's Tap web page show footage of the rhythm game mode. Think Taiko Drum Master or Donkey Konga, but with crazy-assed songs... and a cardboard box.

The video above demonstrates how the taps go along with the rhythm indicators, all set to the insane counting song also featured on the Let's Tap page. As you'll see from the other videos after the jump, there's a fair bit of complexity to these rhythm cues. The Kung-Fu one looks pretty difficult!

And once again, it's up to Sega to provide the kind of shit that should have been on the Wii, day one.

This game really does look fun. These kinds of things have enough to make *everyone* happen, not just the "casual" or the "hardcore."

To quote Hobbes, "It's amazing what they can do with a cardboard box nowadays."

But yeah, it is kind of funny when a third party provides more innovation with the Wii than Nintendo does. I am a little wary of another minigame collection however, even if the minigames do look like fun right now... >.>

I'm not used to seeing games on the wii that I'd be interested in. Weird. With the new sonic and Valkyria Chronicles, plus this, Sega has been rocking hard lately. Keep it up, Sega!

Also, did some of that music remind anyone else of Dreamcast's Jet Grind Radio?

It seems like the music tapping minigame could be a full game in itself. Looks fun.

As someone who has thought this looked fuckin' RAD since day one, this solidifies my interest (and elitism! ;p) even more.

I want this. I don't know why, but I want this.
Is Hideki Naganuma of Jet Set Radio and Sonic Rush fame doing the soundtrack? It sounds like it.

It seems simple enough that it should almost be a wiiware game, save some money and some paper (seems odd that they feel the need to provide a box...)
