Last week, League of Legendssaw a patch that swept the game with a massive change: the removal of the dodge statistic. Beyond this, a character was completely reworked, and a new one was introduced. Though it should be an off week for the scale of the patches, this week's patch is bringing about another sizable change to the game.
Stepping aside from the core mechanics, this week League sees the overhaul of the "Cooperative vs AI" mode. The video above delves into the specifics of what exactly is being changed and upgraded. The broad strokes include the addition of a ton of new champion AIs, plus compatibility with the Dominion mode.
In the video, Riot Games discusses how the improvements will be great for training and practice for current players. I think that this will also be a good venue for new players to enter the fray, as they can now play in a much safer environment than what they would get playing League in a full player vs player setting. You can check it out at the game's main website.
I guess this is cool...but I don't even do bot matches to test the new champs anymore. I get a lot more out of actual games. You learn more. For example I have a guy on my friends list in LoL that plays bot games 90% of the time. And he decimates in them...
But as a result when he goes into a real match he gets torn to shreds. Because he can't rely on the opponents being idiots any longer. (Though some human opponents are stupider than the bots...to be fair.)
All the same, there's more to be learned through hard knocks from real players.
This is awesome. I love using bot matches to get used to new champs but there's a gap between dominating in bot matches and still not doing very well in real matches. A better slope to grind my skills on is very welcomed. Also, the variety. Thank god!
Variety in bots is a welcome change. Gotta love that Riot keeps pushing the genre forward instead of staying in the safe zone and letting it become stagnant like other games in the genre.
Don't expect DOTA2 to be too much better or as popular. LOL has done a lot to push the genre forward. Even though I'm sure DOTA2 will be okay or good, if it goes back too much to DOTA, it'll be a set backwards in many ways.
I'm just glad we can finally play on Dominion now. I'm a level 8 (started last week) so I'm stuck with Summoner's Rift and no way am I hopping into a regular match where people have 22 mastery points and a full set of runes to kick my ass with
Honestly, I don't think I could go back from Dota 2 to another Moba now, Valve have once again sunk their claws into me with the beta invite and 50+ hours of play later I'm hooked! Looking forward to public release!

Terrible players who can only do well when they buy Mejai's or Sword Occults, and wind up ruining the match when they snowball
Wait, pffthahaha.
