New Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep pics, also Sakaguchi photo

So, is that really Final Fantasy daddy Hironobu Sakaguchi? Maybe. The game doesn't really come right out and say it, but it sure looks like him, minus the fancy head hair. The facial hair? Spot on. This could have been a tribute to the producer, or it could just be coincidence. Hell, if you look at it for a bit, it even looks like Lau Chan from Virtua Fighter.

This shot, and all the others below, come from Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, the newest in the series, set to release on the PSP in Japan in January. The screenshots look really good on the PSP, save for the ones with Peter Pan, who looks a bit downsy in the face.

What do you think, Kingdom Hearts fans? Looking forward to this one?

Looks like Peter Pan broke the cardinal rule and went full-retard.

Actually just finished watching the trailer elsewhere. Master Eraqus does look liked of like Sakaguchi."Eraqus" can be rearraged to spell "Square," which is probably spoofing on Master Yen Sid a little.

Looking forward to it, but also kinda hoping this is where the saga ends, as I don't really see a point in this continuing if Disney isn't going to get more involved than they have.

This looks incredibly beautiful for a PSP game. I am beyond excited for this.

I'm glad this game won't have any Square characters to be honest, even if I wish Zack Fair would show up.

It's looking great to me, like it's a full sequel to Kingdom Hearts (even if it's a prequel). I'm excited, especially for the clarification of various plot points, even if fan speculation has already laid out the general ideas of what will happen. If the series wants to continue, though, it needs to raise a few questions while it answers a bunch if there will be any need for a Kingdom Hearts III (which I'm sure plenty of people want to happen). KHII delved into tons of questions left by KHI that many people didn't even realize were there, while it also raised some new questions that will be potentially answered in Birth by Sleep. (I'm seeing no especially significant answers to be found in 358/2 Days so far in my playthrough.) I hope Nomura realizes that this mixture of answers and more questions is the only way to provide justification for a new "main" entry.

@ Dan CiTi

Yeah, good thing it's only a bunch of Square-created Kingdom Hearts characters. :P

Actually, if this occurs prior to KHI, then there's a good chance that Hollow Bastion/Radiant Garden will be a world, which means there's also a good chance of Final Fantasy characters being there, since it's their alternate world.

I'm in the middle of 358/2, and I'm having a blast. If I still have access to a PSP when this game comes out, I'll definitely play it.

Looks okay, but I think SE should be forbidden from naming their games from now on. 358/Birth By Chrysalis Crisis Versus XXXIII zzzzz.....

@Necros

I thought they made a point not to have Final Fantasy characters in this game.

Why do they use the English word for princess? Too many syllables, if you ask me.

This game looks good enough to be on a non-handheld console. I'm really looking forward to it.

I see what you mean about Peter Pan.

With the good time I've been having with Days, yeah, I'm lookin' forward to it. Besides, Terra (pfft) is totally a lookalike for "Ansem", so I think it's a feasible given that he becomes the main games' main villains. However, I haven't gotten along enough to figure Xion's sauce, so how any of these old-timer lookalikes have played into the even we've seen with Sora...

*sigh* The portable KHs are a bag o' twists, I tells ya.

Also: Sakaguchi lookalike is coo'; wanna see what role he has.
Also: "Birth by Sleep", though I commend avoiding the colon.

@ Dan CiTi

What I meant was that even if they don't have Final Fantasy characters in the game (which is questionable if Hollow Bastion/Radiant Garden is a world), the original Kingdom Hearts series characters are pretty Final Fantasy-esque to begin with.

Just going out on a limb here... it's possible it could also be a tribute to Toshiro Mifune one of Japanese most famous actors. Sakaguchi is probably a little more likely, though.

I'm looking forward to it, but I'm also hoping for a Kingdom Hearts collection for the ps3 to come out eventually too.

@ matrixdude171: Don't you know? He travels back in time but to a different dimension where Sora is HIS Nobody.

This will very vaguely answer your question, matrix:

youtube.com/watch?v=50Z_BJ3JIN4

But the person whom you're referring to is actually Ven, who predates Sora, thus predating Roxas, and the trailer above suggests that it has something to do with KH's complicated Heartless/Nobody physics.
