Taking cues from cinema

Coming via the PlayStation Blog, Ready at Dawn has confirmed a few details about its upcoming PS4 title, The Order: 1886. For starters, the game is in fact a third-person shooter as some have guessed from the E3 trailer. Still no confirmation on whether or not the multiple characters in the trailer was a hint at some sort of co-op, though.

Outside of this, The Order: 1886 is taking a very cinema-inspired visual design. According to studio co-founder Ru Weerasuriya, 1886 has "true lens distortion. We built physical lenses into our engine so we could get something where people will look it and not be totally disconnected. Games have a tendency sometimes to be too clean and crisp. We thrive in the dirt. We just love the fact that it feels dirty. It’s filmed in a very realistic way."

Third-person shooting with a very realistic, dirty look. I have to admit, my excitement of The Order: 1886 has now simmered down significantly. I'm not totally down on it, just going to pack up my things and move from the excited camp, to the "wait and see" side.

I may have been expecting something else out of The Order: 1886, for whatever reason, but I'm settling in to its identity as another cinematic (maybe the most cinematic) cover-based third-person shooter. I think it's all the fancy dress and mustaches that are convincing me. It looks like you beat up Hitler in this gameplay trailer, too. You don't, but it looks like.
The PS4 is all set to host the exclusive The Order: 1886, and it's actually sounding pretty cool so far, despite the fact that we don't have any major info on it. Slowly but surely it's starting to creep out though, and ...
I've somewhat purposefully been avoiding The Order: 1886. The London setting and developer (the God of War PSP games' Ready at Dawn) are a curious mix, but ever since that announcement trailer back at E3, rather regrettably, ...
I'm as interested in The Order: 1886 as I can be for a game I know so little about. I've still not seen the PS4 exclusive from the consistently good Ready at Dawn in action, but this recent PlayStation Blog post from Ready at...
Ready at Dawn Studios showed off a trailer for a new IP for the PlayStation 4, called The Order: 1866. While the trailer didn't show a lot, it did show enough to get me excited. It's a Victorian-era setting with lots of awes...
