New House of the Dead OVERKILL screens are not overkill

New House of the Dead OVERKILL screens are not overkill photo

I love my House of the Dead titles, especially in the arcade. Hell, even the re-release combo House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return wasn't that bad. They're supposed to be simple, campy lightgun games, but this new one, Overkill, looks to be just that: overkill.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, though. This new Wii-only lightgun title by London-based Headstrong Games is shooting (hah!) for campy, with an emphasis on a retro B-movie vibe.

This game is co-op ready, as any good HotD game should be. There's a feature called “Slow-Mofo Time” that lets you make clean headshots, and "Evil Eye" special kills. Sounds fun.

Overkill isn't the best looking game I've ever seen, but I don't think that will matter as much when you're pistol whipping zombie jaws off with your Wii Remote.

If you haven't seen the uncut trailer yet, it awaits after the jump. There's Wiimote licking in it!

They have to make it look like its playing on a movie reel the ENTIRE game! Also, it would cover up the bad Wii graphics, but make it so awesome!

Stylized is in: Fact.

Hahah... That trailer was excellent. Also, "slow-mofo": amazing.

I'm actually picking up a Nyko gun and this game solely because of the boxart.

Its looking really good. So Sega now has HOTD: OverKill, MadWrold, and the Conduit all coming to the Wii in early 2009. That's a pretty awesome trio of hardcore games to be coming out from one publisher on any systyem at alone the Wii!

Do want. It'd be nice if they threw in a port of HotD 1 as well for completion's sake, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
