New Heavy Rain screenshots feature pores and eyeballs photo

Creepily-realistic dermatology aside, these new Heavy Rain screens are looking great, and some give us a look at the convenience store scene we've all been hearing so much about. It was apparently part of the demo that was playable at PAX this year, which is one of the things I'm sorriest to have missed out on.

It's been said a million times before, but this game really does look fantastic, and if it's as engaging as Quantic Dream's David Cage has been telling us it is, then our excitement won't have been in vain. This is really one of the titles I'm most looking forward to feeding my PS3 next year, especially after hearing first-hand accounts of the scene pictured above.

Did any of you guys get to check this out at PAX? What did you think of it?

I'll repeat myself, as long as it turns out better than the incoherent QTE-laden mess that Fahrenheit was, this could be a milestone.

This game reminds me so much of the Blade Runner game. And that is no bad thing.

After seeing the trailer, I really couldn't care if this turned out to be one long movie (let alone QTE-laden), it'll definately mark a milestone in the sincerity of digital acting and story telling.

I'm not too iffy on how the game looks in stills. Textures and models look fantastic. However, from what i've seen in clips, the lip syncing leaves a little to be desired. Lip flapping doesn't look very good when everything else is realistic.

I dunno, maybe I should look at it again.

While nothing beats getting up close and personal with a game for yourself, the convenience store episode have already been quite comprehensively covered in readily available gameplay videos (such the Gamescom presentation with 1UP, to name just one example) in which the scenario is played through multiple times to show several drastically different solutions to the problem.

I don't know why I'm still so excited for a game that can be completed in under 8 hours, should only be played once, and will cost $60.

But GODDAMN am I excited!

i'm looking forward to this so hard - really enjoyed Farenheight, despite it's iffy story twists.

I'm just excited because it's really pushing the boundaries of what "gaming" is.

I strongly believe that should HR be what the devs promise, once other devs have played it, it WILL change gaming, period.

Crazy to think that when most of us started gaming it was a case of play this repetetive timing / coordination game over and over, and in a few short years we're qat the point where games are becoming a viable story telling medium. I love it.

@ Narishmma

Honestly, what Narishma posted got me more excited for this game than ever before. Even though I've seen all the vids, watching it in crystal clear high def and knowing that it's only going to look better when it's actually IN my PS3...

Absolutely WANT!

One thing that puts me off to this is my natural ability to choose the least-interesting approach to solving puzzles in games that give me options. When I read through a FAQ after beating a game I always feel bummed out that I missed out on this-or-that cool outcome.

All of these technological advances for graphics detail, and they still can't get the elbow right. Come on guys... It's just and elbow!
