Ehh i dunno... i may just skip this GTA unless its a big change from the last one. The defunification they used last time left an incredibly sour taste in my mouth.
And that jet looks like fun.
In GTA4, sliding around corners was near impossible because you slid way too much and did a 180 every time. In BOGT, you start the slide with one button, and release that and press another button to stop the rotation. It ends up being exactly how I wanted it. I need to go back into GTA4 and see if it's the same.
Meh...who am I kidding, I'm in regardless, but yeah...parachutes...make it happen, R*
Xbox & PS3 are bound to be showing their age when this finally hits. Unless it launches with Nextbox.
Otherwise I just want everything I liked about San Andreas back.
The cars in Saint's Row the Third are too damn floaty.
My thoughts exactly! I feel they took GTA IV down a more serious path of storytelling and completely removed all of what was so great about the originals.
Honestly, I can even accept that, but what they did gameplay wise I could not. I absolutely hated the car handling, even after I got the hang of it.
The one thing I could not get the hang of, and to this day won't even waste my time in an attempt was the horrid character movement. It was sluggish and a chore to get my character to do anything I wanted. Even exiting Niko's apartment and attempting to walk down stairs and through doors was a chore.
I feel Rockstar failed miserably at 'adding weight' to the characters movement to make them seem more lifelike.
To make matters worse, they've adopted the worst thing about their Rage engine and put it in every game since.
I tolerated it in Red Dead Redemption because the story was great and I was totally immersed in the world. But that damn character movement always reminded me I was playing a game and ruined a good chunk of my immersion do to its inferiority to just about any other 3rd person controlled game.
If they keep that in, and don't return to the gameplay of the older games than I have no need to give them my money. I have so many other games to keep me occupied and that are actually fun to play.
i'm no race driver, but trying to drive around not trashing everything and killing pedestrians was/is fucking annoying, and anyone with a reasonable amount of driving skill could probably do a better job behind the wheel of a real car.
that said, if an XBOX pad was better for controlling a vehicle than a steering wheel, we'd all be using them. even racing wheels have never really provided an accurate driving experience.
TL:DR - saints row 3 driving was the best, because there's really no need to make cars handle realistically when you can't drive them realistically.
Also moar Mr.Tasty races please
lets not forget about the dull setting. Oh yay its in new york... again...
I cant imagine a less fun or engaging place to situate a game in. We have all seen it a hundred times before. More even if we count every movie and tv show we have seen.
Sleeping dogs will be my open world wroom wroom bang bang fix (and saints row 3 once they put out a game of the year edition becuse im not gonna get it now and buy all those damn dlc´s)
I think its good when you actually have to use the breaks and not just hit the gas non stop, hope they keep it that way.
I haven't checked out Sleeping Dogs yet but Saints Row's driving SUCKS RAW ASS THROUGH A STRAW!!! And it's gotten worse with each installment. That's a fact. Disagree and I will come to your place of residence and stab your mother in her stupid face with a school bus.
I forgot all about GTA IV being in New York, it was the most generic version of New York yet.
My copy of Sleeping Dogs is on its way from GameFly now. I hope it's good, if not my open world mayhem game of choice is now Just Cause 2. Such a FUN game! All it needs is multiplayer ( co-op mostly) and it'll be even better.
No, I liked the driving too, I don't know what all these little girls are talking about. Guess they just haven't driven a car in real life?
@ The Silent Protagonist
Lol, you listed the GTA4 driving experience to a "T"!
Or did they drop the 'five' off the cover of the game?
Ballad of Gay Tony gave me some hope, I hope they follow that particular template.
L O FUCKING L @ all the shitty drivers. Go back to playing Mario Kart you pack of 9 yr olds. If R* dumb down the physics to appease your simplistic driving skills, after volksONER's finished stabbing your mums with that school bus I'm going to run the bitches over with it!
driving in mario kart was fun. you know, that thing we used to have when we played videogames.
Driving in GTA 4 is also fun. That thing that I have when I play video games.
I was speaking with a religious nut recently and he claims that man has a natural hatred toward nature, to which I said "yeah, sure buddy" and quickly brushed off. But people's aversion to physics here is kind of making me question the validity of his statement.
Man for some reason I feel like I'm the only one in teh internets that LOVED GTA 4. To be honest I was disappointed with a few things about the game(no flying planes but I'm pretty sure we all know WHY they didn't include that vehicle for Liberty City), mostly in that they had all the interesting stuff as DLC.
San Andreas, in my opinion, has the most depth out of any of the GTA's so if 5 is essentially a re-imagining of that area then this game will hopefully be alot of fun!
