New Grand Theft Auto IV mod brings us back to Vice City

4:45 PM on 09.06.2011

After the dust settled from Grand Theft Auto IV's release, thoughts quickly turned to when the inevitable sequel would be set and where. I know I was keen to see a return to the crime-riddled Vice City, a sunny Florida location where Tommy Vercetti established his crime empire in the 1980s.

Well, a bunch of enterprising modders are planning a Christmas 2011 release for Vice City Rage, a project that will put GTA: Vice City and most of its original assets into GTA IV's engine. From the trailer for the project, it looks like there's going to be new and improved graphics and physics but the story, dialogue, and mechanics of the the 2002 game look to be untouched.

I'm excited to see how this turns out. Vice City has always been my favourite of the series, both with its characterful setting and brilliant soundtrack. Given that the next GTA game (probably) won't be set in Vice City and an HD remake isn't likely either, I'm considering this mod project as a potential Christmas present.

Running the length of Liberty City while most wanted

This weeks challenge is in Grand Theft Auto IV, in which I need to run across all three islands, on foot, to get to the airport, all whilst having a six star wanted rating. Liberty City is a big place and there are many trigger happy cops in my way! If you've got any ideas for future challenges you'd like me to have a go at, feel free to leave them in the comments!more

What's Up: Unreal Tournament, AC Unity, X-Men trading cards, DOOM II RPG

Today there are a bunch of new trailers for games like Assassin's Creed Unity, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and The Last of Us Remastered (which is on sale) but Bill and I would rather talk about superhero cartoons from twenty years ago, and guns we can't remember the names of in Unreal Tournament. more

What's Up: ME4's Mako, Deadpool test footage, Gal Gadot as Xena

Monday is the worst day of the week, so Bill and I are coping with it by drinking blueberry smoothies and talking about wonderful things like superhero nonsense from Comic-Con, Mass Effect's exciting new (old) sharkmobile, Trine 2's awful poetry, Destiny's two unoriginal races, and True Detective, which Bill doesn't like, and therefore isn't allowed to have blueberry smoothies anymore.more
