If I weren't already planning on getting the new game, this ad would have pushed me over the edge. The new Grand Theft Auto IV ad for the UK shows Niko walking throughout Liberty City with various activities taking place behind him. He goes through a bowling alley, park, prison, and the streets as we see people living out their lives and chaos in the streets.
Everything about this ad is truly the Cougar’s Taint. The style, the music, and all the new stuff we see. We also see that Niko actually smashes car windows out and hot-wires the cars, adding to the realism of the game. No more opening an unlocked car door and driving away like magic.

Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

I was already sold on the game. I've been playing through GTA:SA on my PC just waiting for it to come out.
...The lame part is that my TV is busted, and I don't think I'll be able to get one before it comes out. I'll have to like, borrow my sisters' for a while or something, lol.
Anyways, it looks great. I really didn't expect so much...Activity...going on. People bowling, dancing...Just living their lives.
I can't wait to play it, and I can't wait to see what that prison is all about...I wonder what that'll be like...:P
Is it just me, or is the song in the background Fashion Freak by Naked Ape? If it is, it just kicked this trailer up from an 11/10, to a 13/10. Yup, that's right, 13!
Do they really need all this advertising? I mean, I'm not complaining that the game is looking better and better as it approaches, but is the percentage of game owners really so low in percentage chances of getting this game that they need more and more?
i can't wait to play this on my new 50 inch plasma,i only hope the PS3 version will be 1080p if not i'll get the XBOX 360 version, they seem to always have the 1080p option.
i really want it for the PS3 tho because it's been sitting there not getting any use and since i picked up the Dualshock3 i want to retire the 360.
If I'm not mistaken, whenever a multi-platform game has come out and was 1080p on the 360 but not the PS3, Microsoft has lied about the aspect. Devil May Cry 4 is exemplified well. They really "bump" the image quality up, and usually actually lose quality in doing so.
Not to say some PS3 games haven't done this, COD4 coming to mind.
gots to love the lcd soundsystem. The song title is "Get Innocuous!" I have "Sound of Silver always running on my ipod and when I saw this I recognized the song and thought it fit perfectly.
Once in a while, there are times when I watch something on the internet that makes me instinctively mount the monitor until there are no more holes to fill. This is one of those times.
@Rockefellow ya i heard that Microsoft was up to shenanigans with the resolution of some of there games,i rented the 360 version of Dark Sector over the PS3 version because it said it was 1080p,the PS3 was only 720p,i'm not sure if it was 1080i also.
how do you know if a game is actually the resolution it says it is? when i check my tv when playing asupposed 1080p game my tv says it's 1080p.
i'm playing GranTurismo5 Prologue right now,it's 1080p and it looks absolutely stunning.
i think in time all PS3 games will do 1080p,they should be since the PS3 can handle it with no problem.
I can't wait to get some real concrete evidence on differences between the two versions, as I am truly torn on which one to get. On the one hand, I would really like to get it for my PS3 as it looks awfully lonely, but then the 360 version seems to be winning out so far in terms of content.
Oh well, I just hope that sales for GTAIV absolutely savages Halo 3's record.
the 360 has 1080p in all games technically... why? Because the 360 has the HANA chip designed for the 360... basically the game can render at just about any resolution, but the HANA chip automatically upscales it to the chosen resolution. some reviews over at AVSForum have said the dedicated hardware scaler for the 360 is probably one of the best out to date ...
the ps3 doesnt have a hardware scaler, they have to actually make a game run at the chosen resolution, thats why diff why diff resolutions can have different impacts on the ps3... the 360 can render every game to say... 720p and then let the hana control the scaling to the necessary output.
and btw... GTAIV for 360 hands down, why? 2 exclusive episodes!!!! the third is multiplatform
Upscale doesn't not = 1080p. 360 still needs to have the software designed for 1080p viewing to actually be 1080p. That's like saying the PS3 DVD upscaler makes 480i into 720p. It doesn't.
As far as which console, I went PS3 because I prefer the console and I doubt I will finish all of the at release missions since there are a tons of games I want to play and I don't have the 20+ hours a week to get to them all in entirety.
I'll admit, I clicked on the headline not because I was really so interested in another sploogy blog piece detailing fanboy joy over some minutia revealed the latest GTA advertising, but because I was curious about the use of "cougar's taint." That term just didn't make sense to me.
It still doesn't. No matter what interpretation of "cougar" or "taint" I plug in, I still don't get it.
I mean, aside from tricking me into clicking on another freelance advertisement for GTA, what's the point of that term? Sure, stupid phrases and malapropisms catch on to become memes all the time, but usually not by being stupid or inaccurate on purpose. It's interesting to know the term has been mock "trademarked" by its creator, but it is my expectation that this will prove to have been a largely unnecessary precaution.

also, is there any news on the soundtrack yet?

I want this game so.
so.

Badly.
That trailer was nicely well done. I cannot wait.

The wait is getting worst by the minute..... Must play NOW.
When has a cougar's taint ever been a bad thing?
*dies*

xbox360 version will get more Download content than the ps3 version.
That guys voice at the end was crap I hope that does not get used on all the UK advertisements.
