Captain Jaffe has really outdone himself with the sequel to his myth-meets-carnage epic God of War. These three videos just hit the Intertubes and they look utterly phenomenal. The fluidity of movement is on par with that weekend you spent drowning snakes on your uncle's Aquasnake Refinery, and the graphics really show what's possible on a system that's reached an age where it has become the console world's Bea Arthur.
The above video is some awesome Kratos on Cerberus action followed by some equally awesome Kratos on Fat Medusa action. I don't think the ancient, mythological, snake lady has ever looked so much like an angry penis as she does in the above video.
Poke the jump for the other two videos.
Kratos on angry rock creature action! Notice that the one boss who is the antithesis of liquid still maintains the aforementioned fluidity of movement. Impressive.
Kratos on barbarian king action! Blah, blah, blah, fluidity, blah, blah, blah, cynic wit, blah, blah, blah, titties.
I thought David Jaffe had nothing to do with GOW2 (aside from paving the way for the sequel with the superlative GOW1). Cory Barlog is your man this time around.
Game Videos' new player is even worse than the last. Whenever I try to watch the 1up show it loads to any amount less than half of thefull film and then says its all loaded and crashes.
Anyway seems like we can agree on saying that this will be the best game of the ps2
Wow this game sucks. It doesn't have next generation graphics and the AI must suck since the processor on the PS2 is limited. When are companies going to understand that games are only good on next generation hardware?
this like all wii games are going to suck since its not using advance physic and ai and the graphics will look like shit because its on last gen hardware
Wow, that’s just...amazing. IGN has already put up their review of the game (http://ps2.ign.com/articles/763/763624p1.html), even though it’s not gonna be out for (almost exactly) another month — March 13, according to IGN. Goddammit, I can’t wait that long; it’s during my spring break, and that just seems so freakin’ far away...
By the way, here’s an interesting tidbit that can be found at the end of their review: apparently, the game will run in 720p HD on the PS3 (wow, I didn’t even mean for that to rhyme). However, because they didn’t have a boxed copy of the game to review, they couldn’t yet confirm if there will actually be improved texture detail and whatnot. Speaking of the boxed copy, it will be a two-disc set, with the entire second DVD dedicated to bonus materials (behind-the-scenes documentary, concept art, etc.)
P.S. Um, skruloos, I hope you’re being sarcastic, because this is looking like it will be the best PS2 game ever made, if not the best action game ever. When I first heard that God of War II was going to be on the PS2 as opposed to the PS3, I thought it was a curious decision. But now, it makes a lot more sense — not only from a quality standpoint, but from a business perspective as well.
Developers are infinitely more familiar with the PS2 hardware, so Jaffe decided that Sony Santa Monica could create a much better game by focusing on content rather than having to develop on a completely new console. Also, Sony has shipped over 100 million PS2s around the world since the console’s launch in October 2000. I don’t even think they’ve yet shipped 2 million PS3s to America, so obviously, the install base is much smaller. Ultimately, I think they made the right call by going with the PS2. Plus, as I said, if you have a PS3 (like I do) and an HDTV, God of War II will run in 720p anyway.
I beat God of War on Normal mode (‘Hero’, I think), and I also beat the Challenge of the Gods (man, did that take forever), but I never got around to beating the game on God mode (or whatever the hardest difficulty setting is). I mean, I played through a decent amount of it, but I moved on to other games before I ever came close to finishing and I haven’t gone back since. I guess that’ll be my project for the next month, once I can get my PS2 memory cards uploaded to my PS3’s hard drive.
Medusa was hot before she was made into the snake woman. Some Goddess got jealous of her beauty, forget which goddess, so she was like, "I turn that bitch asss ho into a snake for thinking she better then me!" and "Medusa was like "WTF?!" Although Medusa was pompous about her beauty anyway so she deserved it a little.
BrOnXbOmBr21 - you don't understand. The game MUST suck. Good games are only possible on next generation hardware. Only a PS3 or an Xbox360 is capable of creating good games. How can anyone possibly play this when the graphics suck so much? And there isn't any online multiplayer? That's a must! What's the point of releasing a game if it doesn't have online multiplayer? This game will blow. HARD.
