Here are some brand new Final Fantasy XIII screens to shove down your gullet, courtesy of Japanese magazine/advertiser Famitsu. Check them out, because they look absolutely stunning, as Final Fantasy XIII screens often tend to do.
The new screens show off a lot more of Alexander, the latest summon to be revealed by Square Enix. His Gestalt mode sees him switching between his traditional castle to a massive, ball-shattering robot. It's like Trypticon, but crazier looking. We also get our first glimpse of the character progression system, some clearer shots of the new Chocobos, and a few gorgeous looking environments.
As we now know, Final Fantasy XIII is coming in March 2010. Who's excited?

Fail? Try March 9th for NA and EU, as shown in the latest official Square Enix video.
Now!
Wonder if the PS3 version will be better? ;o
Oh, you mean the same trailer he has hyperlinked to in that same line that you quoted? Maybe it was a typo?
Try walking off a cliff.
I die inside a little everytime I see a Final Fantasy post labelled as "Xbox360".
I suppose You live a little everytime you see a Final Fantasy post labelled "PS3".
I was more referring to back when each post had one visible tag and all multiplat games, even PS historic games like FF, were tagged Xbox360.
That's now fixed with both showing.
Like imagine if L4D2 came to PS3 and all posts related to anything L4D said "#PS3" at the bottom. there would be a fucking riot!
As to which version will be better, who cares? It will probably be very good regardless.
Sure it will be amazing anyway.
I just get irritated by the toid's general pro 360 slant. It's like the way all multiplat game adverts say "on 360" at the end. Does not help the mainstream myth of "PS3 haz noe gaemz."
BIASBIASBIASBIASBIASBIASBIASBIASBIAS
For what it's worth, the adverts for most mutli-platform games that I see either advertise both 360 and PS3 equally or if anything advertise the PS3 version more. I rarely see any 360 adverts or adverts for 360 games these days.
Anyway. Yay. Still not liking the Summons or half the character designs, but the locations are looking stupdily gorgeous and I'm happy for FFX's sphere grid to be returning.
And come on, Dtoid really isn't biased against any console. They generally say as many bad things about Xbox as they do PS3 and Wii. Whether it be making fun of the system and reliabilty (Xbox), "winning" claims of execs (Xbox and PS3) and general Hamburglar fun (Wii), it seems pretty evenly spread out.
Sure, some people might be "slightly" in favor of one over the other, but thats just human nature, like saying I prefer this hotdog stand over that one over there. For most of this geenration I've preferred Xbox becasue it has Mass Effect and all the JRPGs, but now with Demon's Souls and God of War III and White Knight Chronnicles, the scale is balancing out again.
FFIV remake on DS? Rage. Why wasn't it on PSP instead?
On PSP? Rage. Why wasn't it on PS3 instead?
On Wii? Har. Silly kiddie game, not "real" Final Fantasy.
On 360? BETRAYAL BY SE! Those dirty 360 infidels get touch it, why can you not stay loyal to us SE?
And I feel like I have to point this out, but FFXIII isn't the first FF go be on Xbox 360. You know, that whole FFXI thing. It was on PC, too. This on top of being a PS2 game that wasn't intended to go multiplatform until Sony dropped the ball on that whole PS2 HDD thing.
Yeah, SE was seriously going PS2-only with it at Japanese launch. When Sony couldn't supply the HDDs, it forced the issue of making a PC version, which later was released. NA release we wouldn't have known any better, but it wasn't originally meant for PC at all, which is why PC gamers had so much to fuss about with it.
And wasn't it around that time that SE started getting cozy with Nintendo again? Seems around that time SE realized banking on Sony wasn't such a good idea when they could be making more money by supporting other platforms, too.
And then see how everyone kind of did the same thing when PS3 and 360 came about? Yeah, that. SE's "loyalty" to Sony died about seven years ago, didn't Sony fans get the memo?
I'm not hating on the platforms here, but the decisions of console makers lead to decisions made by developers. Exclusivity can be a good thing, but when exclusivity is a sales risk, I can't blame people for going multiplatform.
We find abhorrent what lies prominently within ourselves. Therefore, you only hate the "obvious" 360 slant because you carry such a heavy PS3 slant.
You may die a little each time you read a FF post labeled as "XBOX360," but I die a little more each time you open your mouth and speak, virtual or otherwise.
Grow the fuck up.
These screens are sexy. Alexander has always been my favorite summon, and looks like this game will keep that for me. Also, first look at the Crystarium system? I have no idea what the hell is going on though. =(
I also am going to laugh my ass off when this game comes out and the PS3 and 360 version are identical. Both have extremely similar tech, so why would it be a dramatic difference? Sure, I'll have 20,000 discs to slog through, but who the hell cares about switching a disc every 10 hours? I get up to go to the bathroom or get chips more frequently then that.
Game looks solid, but I really want a demo soon. Final Fantasy games have always had fantastic graphics, but I want to see if the changes in the gameplay make for a compelling game, or more MMO-esque boringness like FFXII.
I'm excited. But since when do chocobos have a life bar?!?
FINAL FANTASY 13 MAKES ME MOIST!
So, I can't wait for this game. I think Final Fantasy just triggers some intense fucking brand recognition hormones as I loved the last few games, but I loved loads of games recently that have sequels coming out and it doesn't do the same thing.
