That guy on the left is actually a character model? I thought it was some random cosplayer. Jesus Christ.
hopefully he's not just a joke of a character he can be light heartenedan funny but he should have a serious backstory something tragic
there's this belgium movie called Babette's Feast where they make something called "Quail in a Sarcophagus"
Basically, the quail is plucked, then baked into a pastry crust with the head sticking out. what people do is take the bird in their hands and bite a hole in the skull and suck out the brains. then they eat everything else.
Also brought to mind is the French practice of eating the ortolan, which is an endangered French song bird. They stick the whole thing in their mouths, bones and all, and crunch away until all that's left is the bones and bitter marrow. Then they chew until that is gone. This is performed while wearing a towel on their head.

...You know, no matter what I read I just can't get excited for Final Fantasy XIII. But then again I haven't liked the last 4 final fantasies much either.
In all honesty, it was Pedro who brought the similarity between the two people. But once I saw it, I ran with it. Also, this character has made me want this game MORE.
But Barret has a fucking gatling gun on his arm... but yeah, not as cool as a Chocobo in this dude's afro, I agree.

Hope the game`s good, and his character isn`t a stereotype, but, really, what are the chances of the latter? A frickin afro?? And if there`s any hint of 'motherfuckin pimp ass shit' attitude, this will be LAME. Bad ass pimp ass mo fo`s aren't to be found in FF land, as surely as chavs or salami scoffing mafiosi cliches, or whatever, aren't. NO! Or yes?

He really should keep his guns in his hat, have a scene where the guy is being leered at by the villain.
Right before the villain kills Sazh the Chocobo chick accidentally fires the gun killing the villain.

I don't know if this is a step towards maturity for Square Enix or if this is just another jog down the road towards hell and damnation. And rape.

I think the character looks out of place...so the dialogue and voice acting better be good....really good!

I support this. It might be a bit stereotypical, but I chalk that up to the fact that there aren't that many ways to do a black character. *Shrug*

He has a baby chocobo. I'm sold :) But pleeeease, SE, don't make him a stereotype. Pretty please? And agree with one of the other commenters, he should have a good background story. And hopefully he doesn't die halfway in the game =/ I'm being carefully optimistic.
I had a good laugh while going through the Launch photo gallery. Although this seems a bit awkward, but I guess that`s just the actual trend we are witnessing.
