Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

Just a few days back I was grumbling about Four Warriors of Light: Final Fantasy Gaiden, saying that I'm not so sure about going on another quest to rescue a princess. We had a few grainy screens and some concept art to go off of, but nothing that I was particularly thrilled about. That is, until I saw the game in motion over at Gemaga this morning.

You can hit the jump to see the videos, but be prepared: DEAR GOD THEY ARE CUTE. For some reason all the charm of this title really came into play when I saw it in motion, and I went from not really wanting it that much to wanting it really, really badly. The little chibi designs of the characters is what does it for me, I think --I'm totally loving it. What do you think?

I really wish Nintendo would take a cue from this and improve the look of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. That game looks so bland in comparison.

Looking good! Black Mage with a top hat? Yes please.

I still hope it's more than just saving a princess too.

This game is beautiful. It reminds me of Wind Waker but with a cuter style. Despite my lack of love for the current state of RPGs, I may pick this one up.

I love the art style, the game would look perfect without the jaggies.

It's a Square game so you know it's gona look good. I'm a little more interested in the story, and if the gameplay is something new and interesting. I'll probably pass if it just plays like cookie cutter JPRG #4586 but Im hoping for the best...

Not bad. The character designs are the one thing I don't dig quite yet though. Time will tell.

I'd like to see more gameplay battle footage before I get excited, honestly.

Looks good for a DS game though. Art style and camera style remind me of another game, but I can only vaguely remember what it was :( .

Palidi:
Looks like it could be named "Animal Crossing Gaiden: Final Fantasy Tales" I also like the camera and the art style.

I really wish they would stop with the midget bodies and huge heads. How about small heads and huge bodies instead?

It looks quite good. Though I've lost my head with so many DS RPGs coming out.

I don't know why but immediately upon seeing the game in action I wanted to go play my old copy of Brave Fencer Musashi.

I like the look too. I'm digging the way the camera scrolls and that its not the typical 3/4 overhead views we're getting.

yeah, what GohanGVO said, i guess.
it all depends on the story for me, if there's enough to keep me interested then that would be fucking magical. if not, then i can't see myself following through on this one.

certainly looks nice.

So is this a remake of an older Final Fantasy for the GB or is this entirely new?

@Arlo infidel

It is a new, modern-retro entry in the Final Fantasy universe.
