New Fatal Inertia high res PS3 shots! Zzz... photo

Ok, so the hypemeter on Fatal Intertia is a little weak, a rather unknown PS3 futuristic racer set in the 23rd century in an alternate reality where we Korea didn't blow up the world in 2010.  Nevertheless, we have new shots to show. Pictured below are a plethora of frickin' huge detailed environments, interesting particle effects, a variety of unfriendly terrains, a level right out of Halo, and aircraft not cooler than F-Zero's (How about some personality to those ships, designer dudes?) and what the Michelin half-tire hoop will look like in the future.

Generic ship design is a major gripe I have with these games -- they lack connection with the player.  Total Eclipse's failings which crapped the genre, and nobody remembers what the damn Wipeout ship looks like but most of us can draw a rough Captain Falcon or the Vic from Konami. Brand your damn spaceships, people! As the protagonist, I want to feel like the racing vessel is unique and important -- and showing a big breasted female pilot for a split second before the game starts doesn't work either. It is, however, appreciated. All games should.

Futuristic arcade racing regurgetations aside (say that five times fast) it's a little short of a gorgeous next-gen title, clearly.  To it's credit, Fatal Inertia is one of the few games that might actually be really fun on the Sixaxis controller.  The studio promised that physics will be a huge part of the gameplay, so if they've pulled back on the polygons to give us a rock solid 60fps and the wipeouts are wicked, it might be worth the money. It needs to be echoed though: too bad we don't have force feedback, dammit!

I'd buy that for a dollar!

Straight to the bargain bin so far, yes. I'm just hoping the gameplay saves it (One of the only redeeming features of Excite Truck, etc). Where Excite Truck really doesn't have impressive physics, I'm hoping this game will surprise us. Or at least be cheap so I don't feel like a whore for buying it for $50

Well, I wouldn't say it look terribly awful. I bet the online would be pretty awesome.

Wow, these photos make completely unexcited about this game. They completely lack any fun in them. Nothing exciting.

These screens look hella better than some we've seen lately.

And personally, I thought the green dildo ship looked pretty suave........if you like green dildos. Which, I do.

I would certainly miss the rumble in a game like this. Great physics seems almost wasted if I can't FEEL a bit of what I'm SEEING.

With regard to Excite Truck, while the crash physics are pretty basic, I really enjoy the driving/jump/air physics. I really felt like the truck was middair (the whistling of the wind coming from the controller doesn't hurt either).

If this game could combine next gen visuals with the fun of excite truck and the sense of speed of Extreme GIII, this could be damn nice.

I'll wait to see what the game looks like in motion before passing judgement.

none of the consoles come with force feedback either.. in fact the only way to get force feedback is to purchase the 360 racing wheel
