New Fatal Frame Wii screenshots and details photo

I'm sure you'll agree that Tecmo makes a damned fine videogame, but my favorite of all their works is the Fatal Frame/Zero/Rei series of games. While it isn't the most popular of the survival horror games, I think it manages to be one of the scariest, and I've been looking forward to details on the upcoming Wii version since we first heard about it last fall.

Famitsu has new details on the title that they're calling Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse (or Rei: Tsukihami no Kame). This Nintendo/Tecmo/Grasshopper Manufacture (No More Heroes, Killer 7) collaboration brings back Fatal Frame 3 producer Keisuke Kikuchi, who says that "the moon, a mask, and memory play a major role in the title," the fourth of the series. It looks like Suda Goichi (Suda 51) will get his hands on the title as well.

At an event, two minutes of footage from Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse was shown off. It seems that the game features a girl who lost her memory. Famitsu says that not much was revealed, but the girl does sneak into a old house (of course!), and they say that the game looks like a Japanese-style horror film.

Kikuchi says that he thinks the Wii control scheme and horror games are a good match, and that we should look forward to this new Fatal Frame. What do you think? Do you think the pairing will work?

Im OK
You know, even though I only just recently finished Fatal Frame 1, only made it about a fourth of the way through Fatal Frame 2 before getting distracted by other games, and haven't even touched Fatal Frame 3 at all yet even though I do own it, I still think I'll sum this up with a simple "DO WANT" and be done with it.

And for all the "it's on the Wii? Ugh" comments: kindly suck it. That is all.

How can people be saying that the Wii cannot offer an epic and immersive game? I can't believe this ignorance is still around. Metroid, Zelda, Resident Evil, even Mario are fully realized and rather big worlds. Metroid in particular was one of the most immersive experiences I've ever had in gaming, the whole Prime series. People dismiss the games of last generation which the Wii is clearly capable of recreating- twice. I don't understand the mentality that some people have. For some reason the Wii has gone from something vastly inferior to its competition to something that renders 6-bit graphics. Look at the people behind this game, it will not suffer from the low budget, shortly developed mini-game cash in plague. It's getting a little pathetic here...

I've never played a Final Frame game, but will probably be my first.

I have all the Fatal Frame games.

I disliked part 3 so much, I haven't bothered to finish it, though I may try to some day.

I think the best game in the series was Part one.

I don't own a Wii but at some point in the future, I may get one so I can play any survival horror games that are exclusive to Wii.

I'm hoping this new Fatal Frame will be ported over to the X-box 360, which I do own.

I have played all three Fatal Frames, the first one I didnt own, and had to rent it bout 6 or 7 times just to get past the second or third night. But 2 and 3 I both have , and I cant believe some of the comments in here bout 3 bein crap! Did you all play it to the end? Did you get to the part where you had to have the candle or the screen went white(ish) and the ghosts were more damaging and harder to get rid of??? They are two seperate stories, yes , but each with equally intersting storylines, how could you not get spooked where in the real world she visits the hospital, I just think if any one hear says they liked 2 and not 3, well you got some weird fantasy bout twins, thats all it is, cuz 3 was just as freaky as 2, just different story, her loved one was already dead, all this and damn no Wii, well I still cant believe it wasnt announced for the Ps3, they did the same crap with Resident Evil, and look what happened, so unless I Get a Wii soon, well wait and see
