New fan game gives Mario a friggin' Portal gun

6:00 PM on 03.03.2012

Hey guys! Remember this Mario / Portal crossover video? Looked like fun, didn't it? I wish we could play that for realsies, though...

Wait a sec! You CAN! Oh boy!

Indie studio Stabyourself has just released Mari0 (that's a zero, not an 'O'), a remake of the original Super Mario Bros. with the teensy, tiny addition of a Portal gun. But the fun doesn't stop there! There's four-player co-op, free DLC, game modifiers, map packs, a level editor, and hats! So scoot on over to the link below and download the game for either PC, Mac, or Linux.

Be advised that a lot of users have been having trouble installing Mari0. The creators have this thread on their forum to help get your game up and running properly.

Open world platformer/space shooter A.N.N.E is a retro buffet

Really, why even play clearly deficient retro games? I mean, where are the shmup segments in Metroid? Where are the open world segments in Contra? Where are the line segments in a bisected triangle? A.N.N.E. is one part platformer, one part shmup, one part RPG. And this year at PAX A.N.N.E. has all its systems in play. Maybe we'll all get to play it this year.more

Addiction allegory Spate's soundtrack is available now

Spate made a bit of a stir with its release last month, if not for its attempt to tackle themes more mature than shooting bullets at beefy dudes, then for its dated representation of absinthe as it exists and is understood to...more
