New engine and young blood confirmed for MGS Rising photo

Most of us out there were solid on Metal Gear Solid Rising when we saw that the subheader was Lightning Bolt Action. Any game that can combine two things so awesome like lightning bolts and action has got to be worth our while. In case you still need more convincing you should also know that Kojima Productions is creating the engine for the game from scratch and is hoping to make it look better than MGS4.

In a recent episode of the Kojima Production's podcast the show's host, Sean Eyestone said, "We're redoing the engine from scratch, and it's going to look amazing. It's going to be a big project like Metal Gear Solid 4. The entire team is serious about making it look as good as possible on every platform."

That team doesn't involve Kojima so much, as he is busy at work on MGS Peacewalker. It is comprised of "young blood," as Eyestone put it and that young blood will be taking the series to a whole new level. Bold claims, but if it does turn out that the team can make a solid MGS title it's good news for Kojima who can finally leave the series for something else.

Does the new engine run on young blood? If so, then we've just solved two problems (overpopulation and fossil fuel dependency) at once!

This game will be only 6 hours long and will RROD half the consoles it touches (the other half will be PS3s). I called it.

Huh
I guess 360 really can't run MGS4 if they need to make a new engine for the cross platform game

Will the game be as good without Kojima's steady hand?

@Jetsetlemming: or if you think about it like a normal person, they just want the game to look better. MGS4 could easily be ran on the 360. When I played it, I wasn't as impressed by it like Sony fanboys were, and I wasn't disappointed in it like MS fanboys. It was good looking, just not the fantastic shit you pants in aww like everyone made it seem.

I wonder what changes they'll make to the engine (if any) for the PS3 version.

Exactly. The PS3 may be "technically" slightly more powerful, but I have yet to see a PS3 game that would be impossible to run just as good on the 360.Suck it fanboys. As for this new MGS,If they really are going to focus on cyber ninja raiden,I dont think its really fair to call it a full fledged MGS title are going to make this a ninja action game, they need to bring Itagaki in on this.He knows how to make a hardcore action game, plus liqueur and cigarettes cost money and he needs a job.

There's a really good chance this could be good, but Raiden as a character really doesn't appeal to the audience the game is being directed at. But if they add all the stealth/acrobatic action of MGS2 and replace the guns with Raiden's sword in Ninja Gaiden style action.. they may be onto something. It won't be Metal Gear Solid as we've come to know it.. but it could be good.

"making it look as good as possible on every platform" doesn't necessarily mean it's going to look better than MGS4. Here's to hoping it pulls through though.

When I read "young blood" in the title at first, I thought they meant as far as characters go. I was then a bit disappointed with the lack of confirmation it's NOT Jack yet.

I am cool with the news. Dissapointed at some comments. Happy that, despite my fears (and everyone else, for some reason, WANTING it), this is STILL A STEALTH ACTION.

I would be unhappy-chappy if this was without those two words.

No, because everybody except Kojima has Parkinson's when it comes to making Metal Gear games.

I'm glad they're switching the engine. I'm playing MGS4 for the first time, and in high resolution, you start to see a few flaws. Still looks good, but it has the same shitty shadows as Far Cry 2 on lower settings. Then again, this has Raiden in it, so I don't really give a fuck.

i don't really care about this, what I do care about is...

THE FUCKING METAL GEAR ONLINE ONLY DISC YOU PROMISED US!

I don't want to buy MGS4 again, and i certainly don't want that 5GB install on my PS3 but i do want to play Metal Gear Online, i want it so bad.

@10BobMarleys: So I am to guess that experiences so far are not enough to show us what a console can and can't do? I'm not saying that the 360 and PS3 are the same, I'm just saying that the MGS4 engine would easily be ran on the 360. If Crytek can get Cryengine 3 on the 360, then Konami could easily get the MGS4 engine on it too.

If you ask me, Sony paid quite a few devs to say that stuff is only possible on the PS3 to cause flame wars. MS paid devs for exclusives. So neither one is not guilty. It's all one big child's argument that causes fights all around the internet.

Also, why are you guys so proud of the 360 and PS3 when neither group of fanboys actually even made the hardware?
