In a previous Rumortoid, we told you that Legacy of Ys: Books 1 & 2 might be coming to the US by way of Atlus. The last time our region saw this game was way back in the day on the TurboGrafx 16. They've since confirmed this new version, and now Atlus sends along more details and a few images.

Completely remade for Nintendo DS, Books 1 & 2 were released seperately in Japan. Atlus says that they worked with the developer to get them both on one cartridge for the North American release. If that wasn't enough, stack on top of that a totally new localization:

Sam Mullen, Project Lead: “Early on, it became clear to us that we had an opportunity to do something very special with this—only the second time in nearly two decades—that the series has come to North America.”

This mega-dose of retro action RPG will be released on Feburary 3, 2009, for $34.99.

Might have to check these out as I really liked the PSP one, even though I have never played any other YS games.....

Preordered. Again.

Seriously, I own like six copies of these games. It's a sickness.

I have never played these games. After doing some quick reading I have placed this game at #1 on my wishlist.

I am so glad this is coming out soon and I'll def. pick it up. Now they need to start getting the other ones to the DS soon. Waiting is the hardest part :(

@ Mr Glider.
Hahahahah correction pronunciation ftw.

This is the first time I've heard they'll be packaged together. My excitement for the English release has just doubled.
