New Destructoid Episode: Batman's Sworcery Buttons

1:00 AM on 03.17.2011

Today's episode of The Destructoid Show burns hotter than a thousand barbecues in a million golden Hells, and it's all thanks to the valiant efforts of you, true believers! Sort of. We talked about some of the games people suggested last night in the chat.

First up, Tara shamelessly plugs some super cute Minecraft pins that were given to her by the folks at FanGamer.net. I don't see the Minecraft ones up yet, but go check out the other neat stuff they sell and then maybe they'll give me presents, too.

Holy Machinima, Batman! Arkham City finally gets some gameplay footage. And apparently The Riddler's in it a bunch. Then, Prey 2's new teaser and some rumors about the plot, and Tara gives us the low-down on guitar-lesson games like Rocksmith that will teach us how to be musicians so we can finally impress girls. Brink is NOT a game about teenagers rollerblading, which is good, and this Portal 2 gameplay footage is amazing.

You guys demanded we talk about some of the indie titles at PAX, so we showed you some great stuff from Fez, Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, and B.U.T.T.O.N.

Since it's Destructoid.com's 5th anniversary, we announced that Mr. Destructoid himself is going to be appearing in Retro City RampageI also revealed the Mr. Destructoid Vs. Squidbear tee-shirt design I drew up a while ago. Shirts aren't available for purchase quite yet, but trust me, we'll keep you posted. We like it when you guys wear shirts.

Spoiler Alert: We did another stupid voiceover for the trailer at the end of today's episode.

Review: Axiom Verge

It seems like a foregone conclusion when looking at Axiom Verge that comparisons are going to be made to Metroid. It is, without doubt, similar in more ways than it differs from Nintendo's iconic franchise. The differences matter, though, and Axiom Verge merges classic environment design with new mechanical twists, producing a game that feels both familiar and fresh at the same time.more
