New Dead Rising Chop Till You Drop combat vids! Start loving this game! Now! photo

There are some new "choose your own adventure" style flash videos on the official Japanese Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop webisite that reveal more about the game's combat system and enemies. Highlights include Frank getting shot at by a fat zombie, Frank pwning a poodle down with a chainsaw, and Frank driving through hundreds zombies in the Willamette Shopping Mall's garage.

Even with House of the Dead: Overkill and Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers also coming out this month, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop is still at the top of my "Most Wanted Wii zombie games" list. It also doesn't hurt that House of the Dead: Overkill got a 3/10 from that Swedish game magazine, while Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop got a 7/10 (assuming that these scores are smudge-free.)

A 7/10 may not sound too great, but ever since Game Informer gave No More Heroes, one of my favorite games ever, a 6.5/10, I've learned that any Wii game that gets over a 6/10 in the eyes of the mainstream gaming press may end up being a classic in mine.

In other words, "I GOTTA BELIEVE!"

OH GOD I am glad there are actually a bunch of zombies!

I was getting concerned if this was about the hardware or some bullshit. Thank God.!

Well - maybe they were trying to make it different enough to not seem like a direct port? I don't know, I guess we'll see when it comes out!

It still doesn't have enough zombies... I don't care what they do, but a zombie game with a handful of zombies is not fun!

So I take it then that nobody told Suda 51 that Game Informer deducts three points for not including a giant bag of cash with the review copy?

@ The Cleaning Guy: Yeah, there are no good games on the Wii. No one actually had fun playing Zack and Wiki, or Smash Bros, or No More Heroes. It's all a trick.

This is one of those times I just can't bring myself to defend the Wii again. For Mariokart Wii? Yes. For Boom Blox? Yes. For Metroid 3? Fuck Yes!

This game has been a bit of an embarrassment for a while now, new scans don't change this. It's kind of like putting GTA on the DS...Oh wait.

This game fell under the list of things that were easy to rip on. It's capcom, so it will have quality.

What are the odds that this game will be better than a title developed from the ground-up to take advantage of what the Wii is actually good at? I'm not the biggest fan of on-rails, but I might purchase HOTD:Overkill. This one? I don't think so.

The videos on the site you linked to make me think this is the kind of game that would be fun for about an hour. I just don't see how someone could think this is going to be fun. It was just a bunch of zombies standing around waiting to be killed.

I like the "It got a mediocre score but no one cares what the reviewers think anyways" defense there, Holmes. They turned a great game into what will be an OK Wii port.

@TheStripe - TCG didn't even mention the Wii, where the hell are you getting those assumptions from?

Anyways, 7/10 is not "mediocre", it's more Average to Good. 6.5 is approaching mediocre, and is appropriate for No More Heroes, which had some great stuff but glaring flaws.

Holy crap, there are enemies in there! I still have hope that this game will be decent. (This is coming from a guy who thought the 360 game was overrated, though, so I don't know.) The physics seem a bit off, though.

I didn't know anyone gave No More Heroes a 6.5/10... That's a little sad on their part. To each his own, though.

"Also, fuck no more heroes, the overworld killed it."

THANK YOU. Finally. I'm so sick of everyone praising that piece of crap. Ranked fights 6 through 1 sucked and the overworld was painful to play through.

I did enjoy ranked fights 10 through 7 but the rest of the game feels like it was made in 2 months and rushed out the door.

Killer 7 was awesome. No More Heroes is not.

As for Dead Rising Wii... Those screenshots appear playable. It's still however a dumbed down version of the 360 game for twice the price.

No More Heroes was okay. It was definitely humorous. I must admit, it was shocking and equally satisfying to hear the word "fuckhead" in the intro cinematic. After all, it's Nintendo. The bullshit between missions did get lame after a while, and was the reason I only made it through to Ranked Battle 4. I did like the superhero wanna be with laser nips though. I'll probably check out No More Heroes 2 when it comes out. Hopefully there's more fighting and less motorcycle.

The graphics in no more heros where also absolutly shocking, I woudn't consider my self a graphics whore but that games actually hurt my eyes, and it even had slow down, what exactly was pushing the hardware? The pop up effects or the Dreamcast styled textures?
Must have been really inefficiant code or somthing :/

@AgentMoo - Mediocre means average, and I see game reviews as games being graded. Score a 70% on an exam, you passed, but you didn't ace it by any means. 70% is a C range, and that's about all I see the Dead Rising port as being, a C grade game made out of high-B/low-A material.

I have no problem playing a game that scores a 7 (I bought both Infinite Undiscovery and The Last Remnant even after reading the Dtoid reviews), they're usually still decently enjoyable, but I've already played the much better version in this case, and paying 60 bucks for a downgraded version of a 20 dollar game is just ridiculous.

@TheDirtyHobo: There is a connotative difference between the words mediocre and average.

Average has a more positive connotation than mediocre. Lot's of people would rather be "average" than "mediocre".

I'd like Capcom to go under so Dead Rising 2 doesn't come out.

I really would.

All of Capcom, all of their jobs, just gone.

All so Dead Rising 2 doesn't come out.

What gets lost in all the complaining about this title is that there are a lot of people out there who own a Wii, who aren't at all sorry that they do, who believe that there are lots of very good games available for the system . . . and who just don't think that this is remotely one of them.

Or is it just me? :)

Hopefully EA takes a different path with Dead Space-Wii. Don't scale back a 360 title until it reaches the point that it kind of sort of almost runs on Wii. Keep the original theme but make something new.

Aha, another dead rising wii sighting and shit gets stirred up about the wii. Although the comments have been mixed, i think i agree with most of you. I never played dead rising before, but the idea of killing hordes (or less) of motionless zombies is not as enticing as other games coming around. That been said i do not think its going to be a bad game, its just i hope the zombies were not sitting ducks waiting for me to steamroll them with a box of fresh nike shoes (or anything else you get your hands on in a mall).

As for the NMH debate, i would probably say that my least favorite part were the mundane tasks of lawnmowing, minesweeping...assassination tasks and missions were great even with the crude graphics (which i thought were done on purpose).

To make a point, i think dead rising is based on the parts i did not like of NMH with the additional spilling of blood. And is why i do not find it appealing. BUT, will definitely give it a shot once im done with deadly creatures and house of the dead. 'Choose original'
