     Geek Essentials
A brand new video showcasing some actual Crysis gameplay was just released and it's looking mighty fine. You might even say that it's drop dead gorgeous. One things for sure, PC gaming won't be dying anytime soon with exclusive games like Crysis.

You can download this same video, but in a higher quality, by going here or here. Otherwise, enjoy the convenient YouTube version that YouNewb has provided us with.

There is a lot of confusion about Crysis on the 360. some people are asaying it is coming to 360 and others are saying it isn't. Its confusing.

All i know is that I want DX10 and everytime a new Crysis vid comes out my pants get wet.

It is weird that this is the FPS I am looking forward to the most. I have become uninterested in most. Bioshock looks awesome too. But this is from EA. EA isn't supposed to make new IP that is cool, they are just supposed to rehash the same game over and over again. This game and Spore is why i still have great faith in EA. They can rehash all their games and make ridiculous profit on it so they can put it into other experimental projects in hopes of them becoming successful. SquareEnix doesn't do that, they just put the Final Fantasy name on every piece of shit game they make now.

end rant.

dude, don't buy an Alienware. They charge way too much for a computer that isn't that much better than other alternative. Obviously building your own PC is the cheapest option but i would look into other companies first. iBuyPower usually isn't too bad but im not really sure anymore. Just don't get Alienware.

Well namelesstetd, this game looks beautiful, especially in the gameplay, but I'm not sure if I could trust EA with online capability. Take a look at the older game BF2:MC for the PS2. The online play can be good, but the way it's built is TERRIBLE. Not to mention during certain times of the day it's impossible to join a server. And thousands of people still play it too. So, overall I'm skeptical about the other additions to the game when it comes to online play and such. Still makes me want to buy it after just watching that trailer, lol.

Great graphics, but thats the hook. Gameplay is was keeps players there. It looks great. And from this video, it looks as if this is a clanboy's dream game with super speed and extreme bunny-hopping 3.0.

I bit disappointed since I liked FarCry's more realistic gameplay.

However, the way you can modify your gun on the fly like that is awsome. I'd love to see other games incorperate that.

@iRaf

Well although information about a possible 360 version haven't really solidified as of yet but will undoubtedly happen, it's more than likely it is an exclusive, moreover a timed exclusive.

@everyone else

I feel your pain when it comes to the system specs for the game. I'm all for a little steep system specs for a game, but the ones I've heard of for Crysis are too demanding and I think this is just a little unfair to people.

I myself have a Intel Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz processor, nVidia Geforce 7600 GS overclocked, 1 gig of memory, etc. I barely nail everything except for the minimum requirements I heard somewhere of a 6800 Ultra. The 7600 has a lot of the functionality of the GeForce 7 family (although I'm no expert by any means on the subject) but has a performance level that is not that of the same family and perhaps is slower than a 6800. I was wondering if anyone knows about where the 7600s performance level really lies. Anyone?

Pretty graphics but not really impressed by too much. I guess I'm too jaded by PC gaming. I find more "realistic" graphics to be less immersive. I think my threshold for suspension of disbelief goes down and I find myself getting pushed out of the game world more often than not. Frankly, I find a more stylized approach to graphics to be much more immersive.

Eh. Not worth upgrading my PC for.

i had the 7600 for a week or 2 cus i switched from an agp 7800gs and the performance was about the same you can run any game at 1024x768 and high detail, 1280x1024 medium detail. though i am running into the same problem its your cpu limiting your gaming experience i run the 805d(2.66ghz), 1900xt(stock) and a gig of ddr2-667 and i can play rainbow six vegas and it look awesome except the shadows lick balls and i didnt think games were all about the shadows but when i saw my bro rig runnin the game with his shiny new core2duo,7900gto and 1 gig of my memory it was the shadows that made such a difference in realism

@zaqu

There is a problem though. My 7600 GS overclocked has 512 MB of on-board memory but it's supposedly slow so that might not help really. Still though, are you absolutely sure that you didn't notice much difference in performance?

@skruloos and Husky Hog

Isn't that a bitch? You think like me! Games are supposed to be escapism. For me when a game becomes too realistic it kind of draws me away from playing it because I go to games to get away from reality, not have it shoved in my face again.

I will get this game but it definitely isn't that good enough to warrant even so much as $30 good in my book. I'll wait until it's $20, which should be years since EA likes to charge people out that ass for their games and keep the prices up (Sims 2 in some locations staying at $40 even after 2 years, not including expansion packs).
zaqu's Avatar
zaqu at 01/06/2007 21:33
the 512 will help for resolutions mostly but they way i get out alot of extra frames in my games is turn down my shadows, gotta get a cheap core2duo those are the way to go but if you more spendthrift go for like a athlon 3700+ cus those can be pretty good price per performance but core2duo are still the best, do you run agp or pci-express for 7600gs, and what are your standard clocks and your current overclock?

"They're publishing the game, but its made by the Crytek team."

Heh... I can just see it now...

Crytek: So you wanted to talk to me about something?
EA: Yea. Well there is a lot of internet buzz about this game and a lot of people are excited. So you think you can finish it in 3 months?
Crytek: Ha! You're funny... oh wait... you're serious. I mean we have to polish up a lot of the game at this point. I think we need at least another 6 months to a year.
EA: Psshhh. With all this hype, the game will practically sell itself, no need to "finish" it. Trust me, I know a thing or two about releasing "finished" games... I mean look at BF2142.
Crytek::I don't know. We really want to please our fans.
EA: Well they want the game really badly. So giving it to them as soon as possible can't be bad right? Now go "finish" the game. Oh and once your done, get to work on a couple of expansion packs and the sequel. We will need them in 3 months.

Three months later, millions of gamers will weep for loss of what could have been a good game.

I'm not particularly sure that my motherboard supports more than 3.0 Ghz and I'm not sure what my clocks and overclocks are right now. I'm not into things too technical right at the moment so that is a bit above me.

As for the video card I'm running on AGP.

I would have to completely disagree with Icarus on this one. the weird thing is that i used to hate EA with a passion, just about the same amount i hate SquareEnix now. But EA has been turning around slowly. Yes, they may rush a game from time to time, but they aren't going to put Crysis out before its ready. Yes, they are going to put a deadline on the game, but everybody has to do that except for Nintendo. Halo had a deadline and they came close to not making it and it turned out to be an extremely fun game.
Jordan Grim Devore's Avatar

You're right, EA hasn't been nearly as bad with their newer ip(s) as they were in the past. However, some of the games they publish have gone to shit, and I don't think I need to name any names.
