A brand new video showcasing some actual Crysis gameplay was just released and it's looking mighty fine. You might even say that it's drop dead gorgeous. One things for sure, PC gaming won't be dying anytime soon with exclusive games like Crysis.

I bit disappointed since I liked FarCry's more realistic gameplay.
However, the way you can modify your gun on the fly like that is awsome. I'd love to see other games incorperate that.

Well although information about a possible 360 version haven't really solidified as of yet but will undoubtedly happen, it's more than likely it is an exclusive, moreover a timed exclusive.
@everyone else
I feel your pain when it comes to the system specs for the game. I'm all for a little steep system specs for a game, but the ones I've heard of for Crysis are too demanding and I think this is just a little unfair to people.
I myself have a Intel Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz processor, nVidia Geforce 7600 GS overclocked, 1 gig of memory, etc. I barely nail everything except for the minimum requirements I heard somewhere of a 6800 Ultra. The 7600 has a lot of the functionality of the GeForce 7 family (although I'm no expert by any means on the subject) but has a performance level that is not that of the same family and perhaps is slower than a 6800. I was wondering if anyone knows about where the 7600s performance level really lies. Anyone?

It looks good but it needs better gameplay
if any game makes me upgrade my computer it'll be portal

There is a problem though. My 7600 GS overclocked has 512 MB of on-board memory but it's supposedly slow so that might not help really. Still though, are you absolutely sure that you didn't notice much difference in performance?
@skruloos and Husky Hog
Isn't that a bitch? You think like me! Games are supposed to be escapism. For me when a game becomes too realistic it kind of draws me away from playing it because I go to games to get away from reality, not have it shoved in my face again.
I will get this game but it definitely isn't that good enough to warrant even so much as $30 good in my book. I'll wait until it's $20, which should be years since EA likes to charge people out that ass for their games and keep the prices up (Sims 2 in some locations staying at $40 even after 2 years, not including expansion packs).

If it wasn't made by EA, I might give a crap. "
Well, then good because its not made by EA. They're publishing the game, but its made by the Crytek team.

Sorry I had to wipe the drool off my chin.

Heh... I can just see it now...
Crytek: So you wanted to talk to me about something?
EA: Yea. Well there is a lot of internet buzz about this game and a lot of people are excited. So you think you can finish it in 3 months?
Crytek: Ha! You're funny... oh wait... you're serious. I mean we have to polish up a lot of the game at this point. I think we need at least another 6 months to a year.
EA: Psshhh. With all this hype, the game will practically sell itself, no need to "finish" it. Trust me, I know a thing or two about releasing "finished" games... I mean look at BF2142.
Crytek::I don't know. We really want to please our fans.
EA: Well they want the game really badly. So giving it to them as soon as possible can't be bad right? Now go "finish" the game. Oh and once your done, get to work on a couple of expansion packs and the sequel. We will need them in 3 months.
Three months later, millions of gamers will weep for loss of what could have been a good game.

I'm not particularly sure that my motherboard supports more than 3.0 Ghz and I'm not sure what my clocks and overclocks are right now. I'm not into things too technical right at the moment so that is a bit above me.
As for the video card I'm running on AGP.

On the topic of people saying the gameplay isn't there you can only laugh. Have you played it? I seriously doubt it so how can you tell what the gameplay is like by watching video of some one else playing? Watching some one else play a game is sh*t full stop but these Crysis video's still impress me.
Since when could you jump onto a roof of a building and punch through the top of it on another game? That bit in itself made me chuckle.
The game is like Farcry you can do things how you like which in itself seperates it from practically every other fps around. The AI will be no doubt the best every seen as the first farcry imo still has of of the best AI in a game and that was released years ago so Crysis will improve on that no doubt. Why am I even stating why the gameplay will be fun. If you have watched the aircraft carrier video then you will know. How you cannot find fighting a giant alien mech with visuals like Crysis I don't know as please state to me another game around which even comes close?
On the 360 side of things it might do but if it does it will be seriously toned down. The 360 struggles at times on Gears of war and they are small enviroments which simple AI and hardly any physics. Crysis? The complete opposite.

The game looks good. Very Good.
01/07/2007 12:50
I don't think that it would be very fair of you to call us dicks. You made mention of the gameplay which I agree is a perfect element for escapist fantasy, but we were mostly talking about the graphical quality of the game being too realistic.
01/07/2007 15:52
For $800 you can get a PC that will run just about everything on the market. Sure that is still more than a PS3 or X360, but you can get a hell of a lot more out of that PC.
I do a major upgrade every 3-4 years, and inbetween I can take advantage of the crazy drop in Memory prices and buy more RAM to help things a long.
Anyone who says you gotta drop $2000 every 6 months to keep up to date is crazy.

if your card has a fan your in luck, the difference in the 7600 series of cards is clock speed, so if you google a program called coolbits and do a bit of research on it you may be able to overclock it a decent amount a squueze some more performance out of it. and if all else just lower your in game resolution,i run most of my games at 1024x768 cus my computer loses those extra frames that make it smooth when i switch to 1280x1024
