If you ever needed a reason to upgrade your PC, then Crysis certainly may be it. In this latest trailer you can see just how stunning, and I mean stunning, this game really is. Ready to plunk down thousands to play this first-person shooter? Time to get those crack sales pumping.
If they could water this down a bit to a console proper-like I think it would sell extremely well, since nobody's home PC can actually push that (although they said they'd support mid level rigs, but who would really want that?)
When they say "mid-level" to what are they refering? I'm assuming "mid-level" is equivelent to today's "top-of-the-line". Being almost exclusively a PC gamer (aside from my Wii) I'm really looking foreward to this game, though I honestly don't know if I care to go through another series of upgrades so soon.
"since nobody's home PC can actually push that"
Note: Far Cry sold 700,000 copies in like four months after its release, and it was far more taxing on the systems of its time than Crysis is on current ones. Oh and just to say, mine can-I guess I'm one of the rare people who are going to upgrade their PCs so I could run Crysis on my TV in 1080p.
What's the hell with the anti-PC antics here, seriously. :(
"I swear to god, if my new 8800GTX can't run this thing like a dream I will give the people who made this a stern talking too. I paid 500$ man"
It will, believe me, it will.
Early next month I'll be purchasing an 8800, which will go well with my 3 GB of RAM and AMD 64 x2 processor. I think this will run the game decently well. I may even try it on my TV. Thankfully I already have a DVI to HDMI adapter, as my cable box connects to my TV that way. I'm really just preparing for Spore, which will likely be processor/RAM heavy rather than being reliant on GPU, much like Sims 2.
The Game is Direct X 10, but according to Crytek it does not require Vista nor a Direct X 10 ready card. Obviously if you want to take full advantage of the game you are going to want to run Vista and a Direct X 10 ready card.
"Why the hell would I upgrade my PC when I can play it on my PS3?"
a) Because it is a PC exclusive, at least for now-and Crytek simply laughed when they were asked whether a console port will ever be made.
b) Because the PS3 plainly sucks in terms of hardware specifications compared to what is available right now for the PC.
Before you link to that page with that console programmer job listed, I'll directly say that Crytek confirmed that that they need one only to port over the *engine* for licensing, not the game.
Apparently, that video wasn't supposed to leak. All the Crysis community sites have removed it and requested all mirrors taken down. I think Crytek wanted to hold off on the aliens a bit longer, maybe even hoping for some sort of MGS2/Raiden-style "OMGWHATTHEHELLWASTHAT" reveal after release.
Remember stumbling across the Flood for the first time in Halo? Classic.
Also, it's my understanding that Crytek is only interesting in porting the engine itself to PS3. Crysis the game MIGHT make the transition - MAYBE - but right now it's still pretty cool to think about CryEngine2 running on a console. Never mind the DX10 graphics, it's the procedural animation tools that got me excited. No more feet clipping through the ground or sliding all over the place every time someone changes direction. The devil's in the details...

It was still an incredibly game.
I just hope my 8800 GTS can run this bad boy at a decent level.......probably not though.

I forgot where I read this, or whether or not it was all lies.
