Okay, are you guys ready for this? Jimmy Wong, the brother of SFX guru Freddie Wong, has conceived a new web series called Feast of Fiction, which takes foodstuffs from fictional media and prepares them for consumption. In this first episode, Jimmy and co-host Ashley Adams prepare the Sunlight Souffle from Skyrim using the recipe found in-game. It actually turns out pretty nicely!
I'm really excited for this show because, believe it or not, I had this same idea earlier in the year. I thought it would be great to do a cooking show focused on the dishes found in various videogames. Unfortunately, it never left the planning stages because (1) I can't cook and (2) I lack any and all access to proper film equipment. I've shared my idea with a few guys on the staff, but it never seemed feasible.
Judging by the title of this new series, the scope probably extends beyond just videogames. Still, I'm happy knowing that someone somewhere with a similar idea to mine had the skills to make it all happen. I can't wait to see what they'll cook up next!
Tony Ponce (aka megaStryke) is a culturally confused, Canadian-born Puerto Rican who grew up in Japan and South Florida ... yet can only speak English. He specializes in writing features and maintaining an immaculate goatee. Likes: Any and all things related to Mega Man, Contra, Castlevania, 2D, PB&J sandwiches, applesauce, and candy corn.
Meet the rest of the team
This reminds me of my 7th grade Home Ec class where my group, for our final project, did a Pokemon themed meal. Kakuna crescent rolls, Pidgeot stir fry, Jigglypuff cookies, and so on.
There's plenty of in-game foodstuffs that could be done on this show. And they could turn to game-themed food once they run out of ideas.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
The only other proper in-game recipe I can think of is the cake from Portal.
Let's see...
Chicken in a garbage can (Streets of Rage)
Lon Lon Milk
Sloprano Sweet Corn.
Sandvich
Open Faced Moose Beef Sandwich (Splosion Man)
Donuts (Splosion Man)
Meat Monster (Splosion Man)
...that's all i got.
No. Just no.
Sweetrolls. I guess they're just cakes.

Thomas' Biscuit - Deadly Premonition
Pep Bar/Creme-filled Cake - Bioshock
Iguana on a Stick/Sugar Bombs - Fallout
Butter Cake - Silent Hill
Scrab Cakes/Parasite Pies/Mudokon Pops - Oddworld
Oh, I've got a list. Trust me.
Ha, you beat me to it!
I cook well, but no video abilities.
We should have teamed up! ~sigh
Oh well, while not videogame related, I still want to cook Boba Fettuccine as I designed it.
