I fell for Contrast's Roaring Twenties, film noir meets Mediterranean architecture style when I caught its trailer during E3. Be sure to watch for the fabulous, jazzy, Ella Fitzgerald-inspired singing act, too. While I was never able to catch it on the show floor, our own Caitlin Cooke did, calling it "hands down the most unique game [she] played at E3."

So, I'm plenty excited. These new screens continue to show off Contrast's lovely aesthetic. Contrast is slated to come to PC, PS3 (PSN), and Xbox 360 (XBLA) by year's end, but according to the game's website, it will also be available for PS4 at launch. Maybe I'll break in the new system with a nice indie platformer.

Contrast lets you solve puzzles in the 1920s as a shadow

I hope Compulsion Games is able to build an audience for Contrast. While this may be a puzzle-platformer, its subject matter is darker, more adult than what you might normally associate with the genre. Caitlin and Spencer ca...more

Canabalt 2.0 brings more modes and multiplayer to iOS

For the most part, I'm over endless runners, but I'll always have Canabalt. It hit at the right time and holds up well. Matter of fact, it's gotten even better with age: there's a free new update for the iOS version, out now,...more

Platformer Freedom Planet borrows from the Sega Genesis greats

Freedom Planet looks like a lost Sega Genesis gem, but it's actually a brand new action-platform game created by GalaxyTrail. I remember hearing about it a while back from Tony Ponce -- first in 2012 and again last year when...more
