New character screens and updates for Pangya season 4 photo

You're probably familiar with the PSP version of Ntreev's RPG-style golf game, Pangya. If not, you're at least familiar with the dude who won our recent contest. Originally an online PC game, the title is now going strong into its fourth season, and Ntreev has released some new screens to give us a peek at the characters' special swings.

They've also introduced something new for this season, called the Card Holic system. This card game lets players purchase packs of cards which can be added to their characters' wardrobe to boost stats, among other effects. Pangya Season 4 is all about the updates this time around, and in addition to the Card Holic system, there's a new character customization feature that lets players design their own outfits and plenty of new downloadable add-ons in the game's Papel Store.

If you've never tried it, the game is actually really fun, even if you're not into golf. Dale swears by it, and it's about the closest thing to a sports title you'll catch me with. As always, the PC version is totally free to sign up and play, though the extra doodads and DLC will set you back a bit. You can check out all the details on the new season in the press release after the jump. Do we have any other Pangya fans out there?

PRESS RELEASE
TREEV UNVEILS NEW SCREENSHOTS FOR PANGYA; INTRODUCES CARD HOLIC SYSTEM AND UPDATED CONTENT FOR PAPEL SHOP

Pangya's Season 4 Continues To Delight With Compelling New Content For Its Players

Irvine, Calif., August 27, 2009 - Ntreev USA, a leading online game developer and publisher, announced today that it has released new screenshots for its online casual golf game, Pangya. The new screen shots feature the unique moves and golf swings of the nine playable characters in Pangya, including Lucia, the popular and cute pink-haired pop star who was recently introduced to players in Season 4. Additionally, the company recently introduced Pangya's Card Holic System, and has also updated Pangya's Papel Shop with new content. To learn more about the game or to sign up to play, visit http://pangya.ntreev.net/.

The new Card Holic System is a card game where players purchase Card Packs which contain three unknown cards. Each card presents a distinctive attribute for the user's character if it is put onto the character's clothing. Some characteristics are rarer than others, so players should try out their luck to see what they might be rewarded!

Pangya's Papel Shop, a place where players can use their Pang (currency) to win various Pangya items, has also been updated with new content, including Rainbow and Devil Feathers which will be available to players for a limited time. These feathers help make Pangya easier to play.

Pangya is a casual golf game that takes the difficult rules of golf and transforms them into an easy to pick-up and play casual golf experience that a player of any skill level can enjoy. Featuring simple and intuitive controls, Pangya allows anyone to connect and play with other gamers. Players are taken to 15 gorgeous locations where they can choose one of nine unique playable characters. The game offers players an extensive customization experience with thousands of possible combinations of costumes, accessories, equipment, golf clubs, power boosts and more that help them to become a pro out on the green.

Other new content for Season 4 includes an all-new Self Design Feature where players can totally custom create a character's outfit from head to toe. Players can choose from different pieces of clothing to make up an outfit and then can decorate the clothing with their own artistic flair. Ntreev has also added an in-game safe, a new security feature that keeps purchased items protected for safe-keeping for players. By putting their items in the new safe, players will not have to worry about hacking or loss of their valuable items. In addition, players can create custom items and give them as gifts to other players, and the gift will be embossed with the player's name when it is delivered.

Pangya is free for players to download and play, while some items in the game, including certain characters, clothing sets, new equipment and accessories will be available to purchase via micro-transaction. The in-game currency, called Pang, allows players to purchase items from the in-game shop that will enhance a character. The in-game shop also provides new inventory and equipment and offers players the ability to send customized gifts and more. Gamers can earn Pang by finishing a hole at par or better and by showcasing powerful shots.

Hmmm, while I absolutely adore this on the go, I'm not sure I could justify sitting down on my PC to play it. Any Pangya news is good news though :)

It's not called Albatross 18 anymore? I admit it's been about 3 years since I played.

I used to play this game all the time, but then when they made the publisher switch I missed the window to preserve my characters and they got deleted, along with some $60 of purchased items. Fock! :(
