New Bravely Default: Flying Fairy trailer is so pretty

12:30 PM on 02.27.2012

I've been freaking out over Square Enix's 3DS RPG Bravely Default: Flying Fairy since last year's Tokyo Game Show. We've seen very little of the game since then, but everything we've seen has been lovely. All we know so far is that it makes use of custom AR cards and really high-end visuals.

A new Japanese trailer for the game shows off the striking background art and locations. Be sure to stick around for the second half of the trailer as it shows game footage where that art work comes alive. This has to be the best looking 3DS game out there.

A demo will hit the Japanese e-Shop on Feb 29. I'll let you know how that goes.

It looks like Bravely Default sold one million copies

Bravely Default was one of my favorite games of this year (a lot of people don't believe it when I say that, but it came out in 2014 in the US), and I'm glad a sequel is already in the works. It appears as if said sequel will...more

Best Buy is doing buy one, get one for 3DS games this week

Like the DS before it, the 3DS is becoming one of my favorite platforms. Now that we are several years into its life, it has a pretty great selection of first and third-party games. There are enough now that I have fallen beh...more

Bravely Default is getting a demo in Japan that basically gives you half the game

Well this is interesting. Even though the game has been out for some time (especially in Japan), Square Enix has developed a new demo for Bravely Default to shuffle in basically everyone who hasn't played it yet. On July...more

Bravely Default outpacing Fire Emblem, says Nintendo

Aw! Don't fight! Two of my favorite 3DS games ever are neck in neck in a sort of early year RPG sales race. Fire Emblem Awakening was a surprise hit last year. This year's Bravely Default follows the same pattern, though Nint...more

You can use the Konami code in Bravely Default

Once you've beaten Bravely Default, a secret movie will unlock that essentially serves as a bridge to the upcoming sequel -- Bravely Second. But apparently you don't need to complete the game to unlock it, as you can use the...more

Bravely Default producer inspired by Beverly Hills 90210

Bravely Default's producer Tomoya Asano recently took to Facebook to answer some questions for fans, and some of them have been a tad more enlightening than others. When asked specifically about what inspired him in rega...more

So how about that topical section in Bravely Default?

Bravely Default is on its way to North America really soon, and it's glorious. As a return to the JRPGs of yore and a modern update, it should simultaneously satisfy pretty much every RPG fan out there. But I noticed in ...more

Review: Bravely Default

I'm not sure when it happened, but we've now fully moved away from the type of Japanese role-playing game we loved for three or four console generations. What happened? Did we change? Did we stop liking this kind of game? May...more
