New Bit Boy!! trailer is retrotastic photo

You may have read about Bit Boy!! when it was first announced back during E3. I was pretty intrigued, and now this new trailer makes me even more interested than I was before. The gameplay looks to be fairly similar to Pac Man with a little bit of Bomberman thrown in for good measure, but it's hard to tell for sure. Also nice to see that, in the spirit of capturing the essence of each video game generation, the 32 and 64 bit sections look like polygonal blocky ass. The music in the trailer sounds amazing though, and I hope they stick with chiptune music for the whole game instead of upgrading it for each era (although that's probably what they'll do).

Hit the jump and take a look at the trailer below. What do you think? Excited for this game, or is this yet another WiiWare title you'll be skipping over?

Maybe it's the anti-nostalgia tick in me, but that looks absolutely tragic.

I like the idea, but when I heard of this I was hoping for a 2D/2.5D platformer. I'm not too keen on the Pac Man style gameplay, but I'll at least keep an eye on it.

I hope it doesn't limit itself to a pacman clone. It looks like it doesn't have the gameplay to honor the concept properly. Oh well... I guess we'll see.

Is that "128-bit" supposed to be like GameCube-era? Because those textures are hideous. Looks like an up-res'd N64 game running on an emulator.

It's interesting although the uglyness of all bits after 16 kills it for me. Then again I love 16 Bit animation so maybe I'm a little bias.

Like other have said, I think the gameplay should upgrade with the graphics.

I love the game concept. I don't know if I'll download it, though.

This looks rad. But of course they'll upgrade the music as they upgrade the graphics. It would be stupid and inconsistent if they didn't.

I thought this was a really exciting concept until I saw the trailer. The presentation is a bit off in places - the 16-Bit gameplay just looks like late 8-Bit, and the 128-Bit looks like late 64-Bit. To really do the concept justice they'd have to upgrade the gameplay with each generation shift too. Hopefully this might inspire somebody else to do more with a similar concept though.
