Food for thought....

It's seems to be targeted only at the game part of Sony, for now.
Oh well, such is life I guess. I'll probably buy a ps4 when it comes out. I'll just make sure to buy pre-paid credit cards haha
Your "idea" is absolutely ridiculous.
And by that I mean sane, sensible and surprising that it's not in place already.
Yikes. Can't link it now, but the SOE boards had officials letting people know that the SOE network and PSN networks were completely separate from each other. Really curious to know now if it was two separate attacks or what.
What does it matter who they were? They breached the system to steal information. Regardless of who they were or what their motives were, hacker is hacker.
*sigh* They're going to push the re-launch date back, aren't they? I really want to play some Red Dead online, dammit.
Look for DoNotReply@ac.playstation.net in your email box.
God, I've posted this in lots of forums. Why do I have to provide this information instead of Sony?
I'm been getting out of touch with gaming since September, and this crap isn't helping.
Still ridiculous..
Yes it's rape.
Yes, it's wrong. Nobody is disputing that.
Yet there are always people who are going to take advantage of people in vulnerable situations, and the best way to prevent yourself from being taken advantage of is to not put yourself into a dangerous or stupid position in the first place.
Sony? Learn this lesson. But don't expect any pity from me.
Difference here between Sony and rest of industry is that Sony failed and other companies didn't. It's not normal. And customers should be mad as hell at Sony. I bet Sony is thinking that Thanks god, Osama got killed other wise this is on the front page of every news.
Hackers are not to be blamed. It's Sony's inability to build a secure environment then blame the entire industry for failing.
Hackers are not to blame? I just need you to clarify. Do you mean that Sony shares the blame or that the hackers that took untold numbers of people's info are completely absolved of any responsibility?
No shit.
PSN needs to be closed for a LONG time.
And now your customers are paying the price, because some one else came along and took advantage of the situation. Yes, [as a business] that is your fault. Hacker shouldn't have done it, but you [as a business] should have been more prepared.
I think only countries I listed need worry about credit/debit cards. The personal information seems to apply to all SOE customers.
@amtalx
No way in hell. NO ONE is going to even consider a service like OtherOS, ever. It was a huge mistake to begin with, and everyone in the industry took notice. The way people reacted means that from here on out, devices are going to launch stripped down, barebones, with few extras added. Sony made the PS3 too feature heavy at launch, which prompted outrage, then cut features so that they could cut the price, which prompted outrage. It's always best to give customers the bare minimum from the start.
This is something I noticed while I was in business, and why I HATED give-aways and specials. If you have a promotion where you give each customer who came though the door $10 in store credit, they'll expect the same thing the next day, then react with anger when they don't get it. Much of the time, I'd just as soon throw promotional materials in the trash. It's the lesson that you don't learn until after you've already done it, which is then too late.
