I know, I know, we cover 3D Dot Game Heroes way too much. But the game is so awesome looking and new information seems to come every day, so it's not really our fault. Anyway, a brand new trailer has arrived for From Software's Zelda-flavored RPG, and it's pretty fabulous.
The video is worth watching just to hear the Japanese announcer lose his sh*t when the main character's sword gets bigger and bigger. From the sound of it, he's never seen something so intense and amazing in all his life. As soon as he finished recording, he probably rushed home to his wife to tell her about the amazing thing he saw. She then hugged him tight and said that he was truly blessed to have witnessed such fanciful wonders.

Interesting. Having not previously seen the game in motion, I didn't "get it", until just now.
That being said, although I recognize the awesome design choice, it also looks like it might become too much for my eyes to handle for what is presumably going to be an 8-10 game. Intrigued? Yes. In the bag for it? Not quite yet.
Lol @ gamecube controller in first picture at 0:14
And I'm in too, Magnalon, have been as soon as I heard about it. This had better come stateside, as my Japanese is rusty, and by rusty, I mean non-existent.
I like the announcers excitement when he says that you can make your sword longer and thicker/wider. Almost like watching one of those pump commercials.
What's with the GameCube controller? It's almost like they're going out of their way to annoy someone at Nintendo...
It's becoming rather annoying how much it borrows from Zelda ALONE. That's notable in gameplay and specially the tunes. I thought it would turn out to be a witty take on a genre. As it seems, it's turning out to be some people pulling the feet of a renowned game and its company.
My only real concern about this game is that it looks WAAAAY too easy.
Even if it has two quest (ala Regular and Master in Zelda) with one really easy and the other hard I'd be fine, but as it stands, everything we've seen makes it look like this game will basically just be "Walk to next screen. Press sword button. Repeat a thousand times. Win."
It sounds like the japanese guy says Playstation 3 a couple times.
This steals too much from Zelda. This trailer isn't as bad as earlier ones I've seen that were pixel for pixel reproduction of Zelda screens but it is still pretty bad.
Yes, because using any gameplay elements that borrow from other cemented titles (Without actually ripping out the story, characters, names, etc aka, nothing at all that would at least even hold grounds for plagiarism) is grounds for SUING.
USING THIS LOGIC. I DECLARE THE FOLLOWING:
Eidos MUST Sue Naughty Dog for blatantly ripping off the Tomb Raidyness of Tomb Raider.
Any kart racer has ripped off MARIO KART, Nintendo now has the LEGAL RIGHT to sue ANY kart racer made post SNES Mario Kart.
Bayonetta is a direct GOW rip off and therefore MUST END IN LAWSUIT.
DESTRUCTOID is a blatant rip off of millions of other blogging sites THEY CAN ALL NOW SUE DESTRUCTOID.
BLOGGERS are ripping off Newsletters sent via newsgroups. Newsgroups MUST NOW SUE BLOGGERS, IT IS THEIR GOD GIVEN RIGHT.
LIES, SCANDAL, LITIGATION. EVERYTHING IS UNGODLY!!!!!
I am just tired of when something similar to something happens to be coming out, some person for whatever insane reason suggests that suing is afoot just because they share gameplay elements.
Love the announcer: "Unrivaled graphics that have wastefully used the power of the PS3".
...also, for those of you folks that are saying this is a Zelda clone, you suck at games, because there is a TON of other JRPGs that they are parodying. Zelda is only one of them.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

That sword is unreal.

It does look great, but they're pushing it.

What saddens me though is that he just posted this now. I knew about this for days. He is usually 2-3 days behind me.
Get out there and get a solid answer on a western release and/or whether or not an Asian release will arrive with English text!!!
And Jim, you can never post too much about this game--until it is released in the US, and it is in my hot little hands.
