Netflix streaming experiencing issues with picture quality photo

Using the Xbox 360 to stream Netflix movies has been -- for many of us -- an enjoyable experience. Not everyone is having luck with the service though, as some people are reporting that the picture quality has dropped considerably within the last couple of weeks.

It's worth noting that these issues aren't specific to the Xbox 360; Roku users have submitted similar complaints. Netflix spokesperson Steve Swasey says it's "a small number of people involved," but the company doesn't want to "diminish the fact that it's important."

There's no word on any fixes yet, but Swasey did comment that Netflix is "working diligently to identify the problem." Unless this is resolved in a timely fashion, I can easily see the majority of the affected Netflix members canceling their subscriptions. Don't let us down, guys!

Hahaha...Right. Roku users maybe, but the streaming feature for PC and XBL is just icing on an otherwise brilliant service and is free to Netflix users. Unless the NetFlix user doesn't own a DVD player, I don't see any cancellations over some spotty quality issues even if they persist for some time.

First day I tried it, I had beautiful crisp HD quality viewing. Lately though, it's been cut down to SD, even for stuff available in HD. It's not awful, but it's not as great as it could be. I assumed my ISP was just having an off day.

I've had a couple times where, according to Netflix, my "internet connection has slowed" and it has to adjust the playback somehow. When it goes back to whatever I was watching, the quality is usually much lower and very blurry. I can fix it by going back to the Netflix menu and then starting the show from where I left off. It is a tad annoying so I'm interested in whether or not this is one of the problems they've been having or not.

I just assumed that The Office looked jaggy as hell because my internet connection sucks.

I agree Jesus. I was the same way... until I saw what the whole thing looked like on my sister's computer.

It actually looked WAY better on my sister's pc compared to on my 360. Mind you, my 360 is hooked up to my 22 inch lcd monitor that is also used for my pc.

I am guessing it might be because of the huge influx of users that have been added due to the availability of Netflix on the xbox.

I disagree. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks that Netflix's main service is physical DVDs and the streaming is a supplement (which doesn't cost extra). The postal service isn't broken, so subscribers that cancel over this issue are just being whiny bitches. Yeah, I said it.

I just noticed that Jamnontheone said the same thing in the ery first comment. I guess Huxtables and Janitors think alike.

I haven't really had any issues with the service yet. I wouldn't cancel my subscription even if I did, I've been satisfied with Netflix long before on demand video was ever an option. It's just a convenient bonus.

I love having a Netflix subscription and I'm firmly in the "would have one with or without 360 streaming" camp.

Having said that, I haven't had any quality problems since the first day (before the patch). Neither have my friends.

I tried streaming some Netflix content to my 360 last night. I'm still consistently getting 3 or 4 bars and the picture quality is great! Looks like I lucked out.

Strangely enough, for about the past day, I've hit a funny problem where it will freeze up on me if I try and fast forward through the movie I'm streaming. I'm kind of hoping they figure out what's going on.

I only tried it once, the night the NXE went live, and I got sub-Youtube quality. I should look again to see if it's better.

I actually haven't used the Netflix streaming since my 360 red-ringed, since I'm too lazy to re-enable it on the loaner system I'm currently using.
