The idea of him sampling Super Metroid music makes my butter churn. :3

The subject matter makes you nerdcore, not just the backing track. Did Lil Wayne release two Mega Man-themed albums with a third on the way? I didn't think so.
On a more serious note, I just got his new album, Artifical Heart and I dig it a lot. It shows that it has been done in a professional studio with a real band : the production value is very good. And it has awesome collaborations (produced by John Flansburgh of They Might Be Giants for starters!)
I'll have to check Random one day but the whole rap thing turns me off... but then, I'm not one to hate a group just based on musical categorisation.
I dig mc chris. Fett's Vette, man! When I said "most geek acts," that doesn't mean ALL except this one guy.
@Adam Lawson
Big fan of the Protomen as well. Act III needs to come soon.
@MightyVince
Random is far more tolerable than the bulk of rappers. He doesn't curse, his lyrics aren't needlessly violent (unless you can't Mega Man pew pew as violent), and he goes in-depth with his game references. He knows his game material inside and out.
@comicretard
I love Duane & BrandO, but they've disbanded! Such a drag! I still listen to Duane, though. Big fan of his.
I'll have to check out more of Ran's stuff. I have his MegaRan albums but that's it. Looks like he's working on something with Baranowsky, which has to be awesome.
listen, sir, I have seen Random live and witnessed his freestyling skills. He is far from awful. So unawful is he that right NOW your beloved mc chris is touring the country with the man. Along with MC Lars and Adam Warrock, two guys I guarantee can make believers.
But of course you knew about this because you are so in the scene, yo.
