Neil Gaiman will not be writing Silent Hill 2. Don't cry, your mascara will run. photo

Neil Gaiman, author, statesman and idol to everyone who has ever dreamt of wearing a cape in public, has publicly denounced the rumors around his involvement with the sequel to the Silent Hill movie. The first movie was one of the best video-game-to-movie adaptations of all time, and many were hoping that the addition of the heralded writer would elevate the sequel to even loftier heights.

Christopher Gans, the director of the original, recently stated that Gaiman would be co-writing the script with Roger Avary, but Gaiman doesn't seem to know anything about it. Of course, it's entirely possible that Mr. Gaiman couldn't hear the news over the sound of Bloodflowers on eternal repeat through the bat-shaped earbuds of his Limited Edition Bauhaus iPod, but any opportunity I get to kick sand in the face of people who are more than not likely wearing fishnet something, is an opportunity I can't pass up.

By the way, Alice Cooper called. He wants his schtick back.

We all know the best comic/video game 2 movie adaption is and always will be Street fighter. Jean Claude Van Dam versus Gomez from Addams Family?! Sequel please.

No way. Super Mario Bros was by far the best game movie ever made. Dennis Hopper FTW.

HAHAHA Denis Hopper was Koopa!! Thats so friggin sweet. A mario sequel would be awesome, and just in time for galaxies. They could run the franchise in two different ways at the same time. Brilliant.

Silent Hill was (and I can say this truthfully), one of the very worst movies I have ever seen in my entire life. The barbed wire up the coochie scene was just...what WAS that?

I still don't see the goth thing on Gaiman. Sure, he wears mostly black. Black goes with everything. Seriously, you write Sandman and suddenly you're goth-pigeonholed for your whole life. Read American Gods, or 1602. No weeping babies or bat-shaped anything there.

SH movie the best ever? I thought it sucked on many levels. The only good game-based movie was Mortal Kombat.

Gaiman has talked about how he doesn't even really like writing screenplay. I would be kind of confused if he took a stab at Silent Hill. I think Gans was just being wishful.

Did anyone see the photo's of Gaiman's daughter dressed up as him for Halloween? HIL-AIR-EE-OUS!

Mortal Kombat was awesome i always get so pissed when Sonya kills Kano. I mean shes on the ground all on the bound of being unconcious and he starts cheering wtf!!!. Then she owns him the teacher from Billy Madison kills him!! Im sorry im all good now had to get that out.

I thought Spawn was cool, though I know many disagree. Does Spawn even count since it was comic then movie then game? Meh.

Honestly, I think Street Fighter: The Later Years is probably the best game to film adaptation yet.

American Gods was pretty awesome. I agree with Twiggy, Gaiman has kinda been unfairly pigeon-holed as an uber goth mostly because of his Sandman/Death fanbase. But I still approve of anything making fun of goths in general, so well done Nex.

And Silent Hill would have been great if they cut about 30 minutes worth of boredom out of it. Even so, it's pretty much one of the best game to movie translations by default.

Yeah, Gaiman has never had anything to do with goth culture. He only wears black because it goes with everything. All the goth culture that arose around his characters Dream and Death are not his doing; he said in an interview that he found out of 'goth' people with Death posters and stuff who have never read a issue of the Sandman.

Also, I think when you write one of the greatest comic books of all time, you're allowed to wear whatever the hell you want.

Silent hill is the best. Period. Anyone that disagrees is a n00b and will get barbed wire up their ass. Oh and fishnets are hot. Goth or not.
