Need for Speed: Undercover to take cues from action film The Transporter? photo

According to Jeux France, Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello has revealed that the next Need for Speed title -- apparently called Need for Speed: Undercover -- will be inspired by the 2002 action film The Transporter

The film (directed by DOA: Dead or Alive visionary Corey Yuen) focused on an ex-Special Forces op played by actor Jason Statham. As a "transporter" for hire, Statham's character would accept cash to transport "goods," no questions asked. The result was a lot of fast action and s**t exploding, which would be a new direction for EA's Need for Speed series.

No word on what platforms the game will land on, but you can pretty much guarantee that if you own it, EA's making the game for it. Need for Speed: Undercover is said to be available in 2009.

Oh man I love the transporter series, despite thier directors not always knowing how to best handle a car chase and the asian chick int he first one being annoying as hell. Have you seent he trailer for the the third one? Gonna be sweet.

Undercover and The Transporter are not a term and movie that I would put together. I'm interested though. Need for Speed: Underground was an awesome game (2's open world sucked).

But it sounds like we're going to get Need for Speed: Underground 2 mixed with Grand Theft Auto with no foot missions.

Just stop making games that glisten more than diamonds in baby oil.

Unless EA allows me to run an Audi off a ramp that flips upside down allowing me to knock a bomb off my undercarriage believably and accurately I'm not interested. :P

Honestly, I'm surprised they haven't made a video game out of the Transporter yet. The movies are basically action games.

That's a bit of bad reporting right there. Riccitiello never siad that it was 'inspired' by The Transporter he said it was "comparable" to the Transporter. In that there is actually a point to going from point A to B. I would check your facts in future man.

Well sorry Nick, but you just made a front page post about how the game is "inspired" inspired by the transporter from an off hand comment the guy made about the mission structure.

Still, I love you really man ;D

@Cowzilla3 - Annoying she may have been, but that little love scene between those two was smoking hot and tastefully filmed.
