Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

EA just hit us with some screens of the next installment of their popular racing franchise, Need for Speed: ProStreet, and it looks hot. Now, before we all start ranting about how there's no way the game is going to look like this when it ships, and we start hurling tomatoes at Electronic Arts, let's talk what you definitely will see when the game hit shelves this November.

Aside from an obvious graphical overhaul (we get to see the sun again!), the game's new "Autosculpt" technology will allow you to not only customize the appearance of your car, but also how it performs. And if you drive like I do (a blind maniac), smashing your car into things will leave noticeable dents and scratches on your custom body.

EA is also promising a "revolutionary" online game, with an emphasis on a competitive social experience. I guess this means racers worldwide will have a chance to try out some of those new racial slurs they've been working on.

Need for Speed: ProStreet will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii, DS, PS2, PSP, mobile phone, and any other platform EA thinks they can make an easy buck off of.

ProStreet?
That is one of the lamest game titles ever and I've seen lists of the worst game titles ever.

They are going to be merging the franchise with NBA Street. your super moves are only used to avoid a fatal dismemberment from the highly tuned racers speeding through the court

Normally since this is EA, I'd agree that these shots are probably Photoshopped a bit, but after seeing Forza I can almost believe.

@Justice
I still think Burnout:Paradise takes the cake there.

They gotta get rid of the acting in this series. They annoy the hell out of me.

Those screens look pretty legit to me - as Atomik mentioned above, the cars don't look terribly more detailed than Forza 2 - but damn the backgrounds look MUCH better. If they can it to run at 60fps - holy shinowzah.

The screens are touched up. I would have preferred the tentative title, NFS:XI. I just hope the racing model is a bit more realistic this time, The cars in underground/carbon handled too arcadily, we need to get back to the glory days of Porshe Unleashed.

Porsche Unleased... ah, my favorite racing game ever next to Viper Racing. No street-racing game will ever approach the utter awesomeness of PU.

Need For Speed: High Stakes was my all time favorite. I think it was the first racing game to introduce pink slips.
