Yeah, the PlayStation 3 games aren't there yet, but they will be. Yeah, the graphics aren't there yet, but they will be. Need proof? Go here, watch the videos, then come to the realization that you've just watched one of the most graphically impressive games ever -- Gran Turismo HD.
Whether or not you are a GT fan, the power and awe insipired by this game should put to rest any doubt that the PS3 is one damn impressive piece of hardware. Now we just need the developers to unleash the beast hidden within.

"Yeah, good luck in getting the rest of the devlopers outside of Polyphony to churn out those graphics. Oh, sorry, Konami! You got me! "
don't forget Square Enix! That white engine of theirs looks to be amazing!
So I just got a Wii and 360 for Christmas. Live is amazing but expensive (€8 to change my tag!?) Wii is cheap, but having troubles getting online.
Hasn't everyone already been over the reasons why Gran Turismo can't have damage models on their cars? It's the price you pay to get the actual licensing. Depressing as it may be.

I've actually never heard any explanation for why they can't. Got a link, or care to enlighten me? TIA.
And my comp can't handle the 720p WMV video :(
Since we in Swiss I really miss some cows and it would be nice to have the spectators standing on the road running to the sides as the car come close, other than the graphics look impressive, a bit too clinical but that's typical GT.
If nothing else, it would also be nice if damage affected the handling of the car, but didn't actually show up on the models, to keep the manufacturers happy.
Did they remember to include a Saturn this time? How about a K-car? ;)
They can't use damage models because the car manufacturers won't allow it. They don't want you to think their cars can be hurt by anything. Heaven forbid the Nissan is harder to damage than the Ford, and that causes you to change your mind about a future car purchase. They simply only want you to see their vehicle in its most glorious form.
It will be fun to watch you slowly lose your mind as the completely failure of the ps3 starts to sink in.
People have to stop overselling games, it's only going to hurt the games in the end.
Then why do Midnight Club 3 and Need for Speed: Carbon have real licensed cars *and* damage models?
I think the Gran Turismo "license cars" thing is just an excuse so they don't have to put in damage models.
It is actually true that some car manufacturers don't want their cars to be damaged in games, for various reasons. This was confirmed by Porsche during mid-90's when there was a supposed problem with illegal racing and Porsche wanted to improve their image amongst more respected owners.
And when you have licensed cars from a manufacturer who doesn't want their cars to be wrecked it is a hard decision to leave the wrecking and include the manufacturer or to keep the wrecking and toss the manufacturer. Because you can't have some cars breaking down and others not to.
That is why many developers have opted the no wrecking policy. And as to why some games have the same cars that can break down when other games don't, can be from many reasons, maybe the developer modified the cars to look less realistic or the other developers just didn't want to work in a realistic crashes, your guess is as good as mine.
