Near Miami? Come jog with Mr. Destructoid for a good cause photo

Attention, South Florida geeks! Pry yourself from your computer and put on your neon spandex. Destructoid.com invites you to join Miami's biggest video game community in person (for once) as we raise money for the Mount Sinai Medical Center Foundation in 7th annual Ocean Drive 5k Run. Suck at running? Afraid of sunlight? No need to worry: Fitness-impared noobs can walk/jog down the allocated "Geek Circuit" path, optimized to keep your feeble frame intact and safely away from the grunting alpha males.

Come out tomorrow morning (read: don't get too wasted tonight) to meet some geeks, shed some pounds, help a great cause, and cheer on a guy dressed in a giant robot costume jogging for charity. Man, am I gonna look funny tomorrow. We went to American Apparel and bought the most awkward bright green jogging clothes possible. Here's hoping I don't give myself a concussion wearing this thing!

Check out the web site for more details. See you there! Also, Cecelia is awesome and set up Destructoid's Running Club which you can participate in no matter where you are.

Jog?! Gamers jogging?! How about plaiyng a game where you control a character that's jogging in a marathon? Does that count?

@Chronic Logic

Your comment reminds me of an episode of Disney's Fillmore with that gaming chick who fakes that she has broken legs so she can stay in her wheel chair to play running games and all that....oh, spoilers?...lol

Good cause though Niero!!

I believe it is pronounced yogging, like with a soft J. Yeah, I would love to go, but first I would like to conquer 5 floors of stairs without breathing heavy. Maybe then running

This is actually kind of funny because since the weather is beautiful right now, I'm going to start running again tomorrow. So I'll be running in spirit at least ^_^

I wish I could be there, but I plan on getting ruined tonight and staring balefully across the bay with a crushing headache tomorrow morning!

I dont mean to be a stick in the mud but can we please drop the negative body stereotypes for gamers? A recent study conducted by the University of Southern California showed gamers to be heathier, 10% leaner, and "exercise vigorousy" more often than the average person. Unfortunately we are depressed more often and have a higher rate of substance addiction... but still.

CWal27, I was all like WTF you talkin' about?? Then I saw the main post again and I was all like "awwww but I'm a guy -__-". Finally mentioned on the front page and it really isn't me ahahaha.

Actually, it's funny because during Killzone 2, everyone calls me Celia and I'm all like "that's not my name, that's my aunt!!" but since I don't use a headset (yet) I can't correct anyone. It's Celica, like the Toyota car (long story, also boring), except it's pronounced Sell-E-Ka Crazed, I made it my own. But since I think I'm actually the one pronouncing CelicaCrazed wrong, it makes it all even funnier.

But yay to the group being up to 4 members ^_^

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
