Get ready for the most mind-blowing news of the day folks: NBC is coming to Xbox Live. No, not amazing NBC sitcoms like Parks and Recreation, it's even better: news, news, and more news!

The app will feature breaking news, as well as commentary from a handful of NBC news shows. There's no live programming scheduled yet, but there are to be clips from a number of shows like Hardball.

While content is great, a half-hearted app from every single provider can make the marketplace look flooded and oversaturated, especially if these programming blocks aren't even live.

Until the cable networks release their grip and actually start providing real unfilitered content without a cable subscription (I'm looking at you HBO Go), I don't think on-demand media will truly make any progress beyond baby steps.
