It's hard to believe that these NBA Live 2008 images are actual production screenshots. Unlike the somewhat creepy humans in Virtua Tennis 3, the texture and modelling work in next-gen EA sports games continue to push the graphics envelope down our throats and into our helpless wallets. Look at the eyeballs! The teeth! The jersey! The suicide marks on the wrist!

Soon, we won't be discussing these things with words like "next gen" and "1080p". No, we will require new metrics that more granularly let graphic snobs discuss how many large veins are clearly visible in a given frame and what the specular-sweat-to-glisten ratio is on their player's foreheads. Wife-o-meters need not apply.

Three ghastly large full resolution screenshots attached for your gawking pleasure.

Those images are 2000+ pixels wide. What do you mean by 'production screenshots'?

Wow! Look at the third one! The quality, the green trim, the Xbox 360 logo, it's incredible...oh wait nevermind.

yeah, they do look very cut and pasted...but I guess we can assume they didnt touch up on the backgrounds yet.

The cover looks like ass though

Photoshopped - look around the edges of the players. No doubt these are target renders.

I'm super pumped that another sports game traded gameplay for graphics.

I never knew george takei was gay. Goes to show, you can never trust them asians...

But ya, they definitely seem to be shopped in to the backgrounds. If the characters really do look that good, and don't have those terrible jerky animation transitions EA games often seem to have, this game will be an absolute stunner. Not that I care much though, realistic sports games do nothing for me.

@ brad drac:

Yeah, he came out a few years ago. Neil Patrick Harris is gay too if you haven't heard. I guess that Doogie Howser/Vinnie slash fiction I wrote wasn't so far off after all.

Wait, I meant to say I didn't write any Doogie Howser slash, and I'm totally macho and straight. Yeah, that's it.

It does not matter how good this game looks as long as it plays good, because NBA 2007 sucks!

"Hello Kitty Island of Adventures" graphics are better. However, "NBA Live" needs to bring these graphics to the Computer, where I can update the rosters by downloading updates. Also, Drift64, I agree by saying "NBA Live 2007" really did suck, and the graphics for the PC looked exactly like "NBA Live 2006"

I can not wait to see Rasheed Wallace in HD! as long as you can press a button and he argues with everyone around him and swears like workman the game will be perfect.

Is it just me, or do these games get more unappealing the more realistic they get? My interest = 0.

Ah, nothing like a photorealistic human that moves like a demon-possessed marionette.

Pretty sweet screenshots, but if you want to see some quality screenshots from a higher quality game hit up NBA 08!
