The folks over at 2K Sports have upped the ante in the cover athlete game once again. Last year’s well-received NBA 2K11 surprisingly sported former minor league baseball player (and professional basketball player) Michael Jordan, on its cover. So how do you top that? How about adding two rival Hall of Famers with eight NBA Championships between them?
The first run of NBA 2K12 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will offer three different cover athletes: Michael “His Airness” Jordan, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, and Larry “Legend” Bird. The Magic and Bird covers are limited to the first run of games available at launch and will only be available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. When the limited covers are sold out, they’re gone, and only the Jordan cover will be printed. An incentive to be buy day one?
So, which cover are you getting? I love Larry Bird, but I’m a Lakers fan and Magic Johnson is exuding electricity, as if he is ZEUS, GOD OF THUNDER. But I can’t count out Jordan yet, either. After all, he was in Space Jam.
