Naughty Dog confirms Uncharted sequel is a-comin photo

Well, well. It seems that being the redheaded stepchild of some people's Game of the Year choices isn't going to stop Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. According to Naughty Dog president Christophe Balestra, a sequel to the PS3 action title is already in the works. He didn't disclose any further details, but the announcement is enough to give PS3 owners something to look forward to.

This may not be news to some of you, as it was mentioned in early December 2007 that a sequel was expected, but it seems perhaps we can expect this sequel sooner than we may have thought. Uncharted was one of the most unexpected solid gaming experiences I had last year, rather than being the Tomb Raider rip off I had imagined it would be. If you have a PS3 and haven't picked it up, do youself a favor. No, Naughty Dog is not paying me.

No Captain Obvious attached to this one? Seems like a no brainer.

And then the new Jak and Daxter right?

Scratch that. Uncharted sequel, new original ip, THEN jak and daxter sequel. Naughty dog makes me want to touch myself

I didn't expect this so soon. I thought they were working on a Jak and Daxter sequel but good thing this first because I love Uncharted.

Excellent choice by Naughty Dog. Uncharted; although "dime-a-dozen" action games out there, but it feels more like a well oriented adventure. If Indiana Jones had a son, this would be him.

Another neat note; this game even pays homage to alot of other titles. How many games can top that? =D

Looking at the game from the sales perspective ... it's more of a surprise considering surprisingly low numbers at launch - but from a gamer's perspective ... COOL, I WANT MORE by which I mean less gunfights and more adventure, please.

Yeah, gotta agree with the lack of Captain Obvious on this one. Uncharted is too good of a game to not see a sequel.

This time they should, you know, market the game, then maybe people will consider it goty. That's why halo3 got the mountaid dew award.

I love adventure games. This seems like a good reason to get a PS3. If only there would be about six more so I could justify the purchase. A port of a game I played to death on X-Box only counts as novelty value.

So many moments had me gasping in awe. Seeing the textures on the moss and rust on the old U-boat, surprisingly, was one of the best. Soooooo shiny and yet not shiny.

Elena, Nate and Sully were some of the best characters I've seen and the game had one of those all too satisfying conclusions so rarely seen in videogames.

Some of the battles really gave me the shits though, fucking assholes that know how to flank and use grenades. Gah! That game needed a "return to thrower" button on 'nades like CoD4.

Uncharted strikes me as a game that lends itself to a series of high-quality titles that each follow a separate story arc. Really, you don't need Nate, Elena or Sully to make a second title in the series as long as it's an adventurer hunting for something. Shit, they could tackle Atlantis, secrets of Egypt, and other tripe and I believe they'd do it better than Tomb Raider by far. Drake's Fortune stayed in the one place for most of the game, didn't feel the need to travel to thirty exotic locations worldwide and managed to create this one completely intriguing island location.

Good dog.

I like Uncharted, but the shootouts are starting to get repetitive. I wish there was more adventure and puzzle-solving, less shooting. Maybe in the sequel.

Meh. Every game automatically gets a sequel, no matter how good the first one is. I'm tired of it.

I was surprised a sequel is happening, the game didn't sell well. That being said, this one deserves it. One of the best of 2007

I would like to see the sales numbers. Everyone saying "oh but the game sold like shit in a cone" probably does know the real numbers. With as much praise this game got, it would be shocking if it didn't do at least as good as Heavenly Sword which, I believe, broke a million.

Lets try again,

"does know the real numbers" really meant to read "doesn't know shit"

I don't care if we saw this one coming. I really like the fact that it's "confirmed." I can rest easy knowing that another game is coming that will make my PS3 shine. They have a lot of the engine, art work and modeling done, now they can concentrate on more gameplay aspects and more story. I expect the sequel to be better than the first. It'll be hard to top IMO, but I think they can do it.

If you haven't played it yet, do so. It really is a quality title. REALLY. Worth every penny.
